1. What is the difference between laptops, tablets, desktops and servers in terms of
functionality and power?
Desktop utilizes bluetooth, wifi, USB, HDMI, and VGA cable connections to connected
to an external monitor, and use a keyboard, and a mouse. It has pre-installed software
on which programs run.It is also powered by a permanently grounded electrical source
such as a wall socket.It is designed for heavier functionalities such as gaming,
multimedia design, or function as servers. Moreover, it is usually stationed permanently
in a specific place.
Laptops are portable or transportable computers. These have a built-in keyboard, a
touchpad, a battery that can last for hours, and a pre-installed software. They are not as
functional as a desktop but are mobile and multi-purpose.
Tablets are small hand-held devices in comparison with the desktop and laptop. It
does not contain the same hardware as both, and are lesser in functionality; but is more
mobile and convenient. It runs on a pre-installed software which is different from laptops
and desktops, and it has a built-in battery and display that is touch-screen for all
designed functions.
Servers are hardwares or softwares built, designed, and programmed to process
requests and send data to other computer units via the internet or local network to
provide service to clients. It also stores a huge amount of information and controls
access to hardwares, softwares, and other resources on a network.

2. What is the relationship between data and information?

Data are bits of information. They are raw, unarranged, and unprocessed facts. But
when collected, arranged, organized, and placed into a context data becomes
information.

3. Differentiate the web from the Internet, and describe the relationship among the web,
webpages, websites, and web servers.

The internet is a platform or an infrastructure and a global network of networks and

computers, while a web is a mass or collection of information stored for access in the
internet. A webpage is a document that can be displayed through web browsers, and a
website is just a collection of webpages arranged and connected altogether.
Furthermore, a webserver is a computer hosting a specific website.
4. What is the difference between an operating system and applications?

Operating systems are system softwares that manages a computer’s hardware and
provides service to computers. On the contrary, an application is a software that runs a
specific program on the operating system performing specific tasks.

5. How does the society use technology in education, government, finance, retail,
entertainment, health care, travel, publishing and manufacturing?

Society utilizes technology in various ways, from the grand scale of human lives to our
daily normal ways. In education, we use technology as means of information, an
instrument for learning, and as a platform to collect resources. The government employs
technology to be efficient and productive in governance. This is evident through the use
of the national ID system, and information technology to make the law available and
readable to the public. In finance, they use technologies in online bank transactions,
information storage, mobile banking, and other services with the goal of making
financial services more accessible to everyone. In retail, technology offers a better
publicity of products through digital bulletins, social media, and televisions. Technology
also made online transactions possible in the blink of an eye. Likewise, the
entertainment industry utilizes television, smartphones, and social media to promote
publicity. Technology also enabled more creative entertainment such as animations,
graphics, sounds etc. Important too, are the benefits of technology in healthcare. X-ray,
CT scanners, Electronic microscopes, and surgical technology are just the tip of how
efficient and important technology is to our healthcare system. Moreover, in travel we
use cars, airplanes, and motorcycles- all of it carrying our feet to places faster and
safer. The publishing system now utilizes the internet to provide reading entertainment
and services to the general public; although, if one would prefer a hard copy,
technology is also at the company’s dispense. Mass production is also possible now
due to manufacturing technologies that can create replicas of items, and products with
distinct precision and quality. Altogether, society has reached unbelievable heights in
evolution and progress because of technology.
