Summary
I have always been affiliated with pop culture whether it be through family ties or simply what I talk about on
social media and in every day conversations. This has led my drive to become a pop culture writer. To create
this path, I began writing informal reviews either through Twitter threads or on sites such as Metacritic before
eventually writing for my internship at the pop culture website ThePopBreak. During my senior year of
college, I joined Rutgers’ radio program WRSU. There, I helped plan and work event as well as write music
reviews for their website. I eventually became a radio personality a few months later where I was featured on
the morning and afternoon show numerous times a week.

Related Work
My personal site features links and outlines some of the articles and projects I have done. This includes
reviews, news articles, interviews, websites, and videos. Here is just a small summary of the things I’ve
accomplished.

Kairos Magazine
Featured Writer 2019
I’ve written for Kairos magazine during my study abroad trip to Italy. During the quick two weeks, I and my
partner interviewed dozens of different figures in the journalism industry.

The Assault on Italian Journalism

This article goes into depth the differences between American and Italian journalism. By speaking to several
former and current journalists, my partner and I were able to craft this story and detail the issues that they are
facing are not so different from the issues that plague American journalism.

ThePopBreak
Contributor April 2019 – Present
I have written several reviews for the pop culture site. This is where I really started to write professionally and
hone my skills.

Barry: Season 2 Premier

My first published piece was a review on the HBO series Barry. The episode was a strong start to an even
better sophomore season and showed just how capable Bill Hader is both acting and show-running wise.
Guava Island
My second review was on the Donald Glover starring short film Guava Island. While not the greatest work
from acclaimed director Hiro Murai, his debut film was an interesting tale of an serene island escape.

Best Movies of the Decade: Whiplash

For one of the site’s end of the decade features, I wrote about one of my favorite films and detailed why it
should be regarded and remembered as one of the bests of the 2010s.

WRSU/Rutgers Radio
Contributor September 2019 – March 2020
I joined the Rutgers radio program my senior year and have helped prepare for events with them as well as
write music reviews. I also am a part of two of the radio programs RU Awake and RU Entertainment.

Norman F***ing Rockwell! Review

My first music review was on Lana Del Rey’s 2019 album Norman F***ing Rockwell!. It was a drastic
improvement over her past work and Lana finally reached her full potential.

Medium

A class at Rutgers, Medium and Community, allowed me to interview and write about people and events
happening around New Brunswick.

Life After Prison: Finding a Career with Ban the Box

I conducted an interview with Ron Pierce, a formerly incarcerated person who now works with other formerly
incarcerated people and helps them find work after their sentence. He also talks about the need to ban certain
questions that unfairly target those who have been previously imprisoned.

Reentering Society with NeighborCorp

Neighbor prides itself for helping the formerly incarnated find work and get back on their feet after their
sentence is served. I spoke to Austin Morreale, the service director for the New Brunswick branch and asked
him about the work he does and how his clients react to their new situations.

Wage Theft: Improper Pay for Quality Work

Wage theft is a crucial issue that effects countless citizens across the nation. New Brunswick based
organization New Labor fought against wage theft claims in the city and rallied workers to start a caravan to
ensure that they are paid for their work.
