“With realization of one’s own potential and self confidence in one’s ability, one can built

a better world”- Dalai Lama. Confidence is believing in oneself and one’s abilities. It is the
key to success.

The video was about confidence where (__________) spoke about four things i.e. confidence,
fear, self-compassion and following one’s passion or purpose in life. The reason why one
lack in confidence at their workplace is the fear. The constant fear of losing job and what
would happen after that makes one loses their confidence or lack confidence. It is important
for a person to get over their fear and should think that its okay if they lost their job because
at the end Nobody owns you, you yourself must take the ownership and move on. One must
go deep and think about what is in the dark. In case they lost their jobs, what cold happen to
them and how can they ensure their survival and what is the B- Plan. People can explore the
grey areas. There is always a silver lining and one can always find a way to overcome
situations like this. Thinking about it and considering losing a job could make one to gain
confidence.

The other thing that the video talked about was the reason why one is afraid of losing job.
Often, people are good at certain tasks or skills required for the job and incompetent at
certain areas and skills. Most of the times people do nothing about developing their skills and
improving the areas which requires improvement. One has to work in the direction to built
skills as it will lead to gain in confidence.

Self-compassion isn’t a common word probably because people who have self-compassion
are difficult to find. Nobody is perfect. Imperfections is what makes one different and unique
from others. So, it is completely fine to be imperfect at certain things. People should stop
running after perfection. The constant endeavor of achieving perfection and fear of being
imperfect lowers confidence. People should calm down and be at peace and comfort with
being imperfect at things. Self-compassion brings in compassion.

The last thing that the video conveyed was following one’s passion. Becoming the best in
what one does and giving his hundred percent to his job would increase the person’s
confidence. But becoming the best and achieving perfection is no cake walk and many a
times even after working hard and giving their hundred percent, people fail to achieve
success and growth in their jobs. This happens because they do these jobs for the heck of it
and not because they love their jobs. Most of the people do their jobs, study subjects that
would give them money and a secured life. People choose not to follow their heart and
passion.

In a country like India, where many people go for engineering, or an MBA, or civil services
often do that for the want of a secured life and power. One keeps hearing about stories of how
people who are passionate about singing or dancing are not allowed to do or not choose that
profession. Their fear ending upon streets, earning peanuts. Chetan Bhagat who was an MBA
postgraduate and Amish Tripathi who was a banker, left their jobs, took the risk and followed
their hearts and purposes. A lot of successful famous businessman are school or college
dropouts like Mark Zukerberg and Simon Cowell. There can be nothing more satisfying and
fulfilling than loving what a person does and loving their jobs. Love for what one does
automatically adds confidence. It is not important to risk everything when one knows that
job, they have is much needed and they aren’t in the situation where they can afford to leave
a well-paying job for the love of their passion and start from the scratch. In this case, they can
always find a mid-way like (youtuber’s name) gave his father’s example. In spite of being
an engineer he went out for an MBA degree to get a job in the sales department of the
company he worked in so that he gets to travel and meet new people, something he love to
do. The (youtubers name) himself left his job to become a confidence tutor that is what he
knew he is terrific at.

Breaking the ‘golden cuffs’ is not always easy but suffering and getting stagnant is the best
option either. One must break free from all the fear to gain confidence.
