Welcome

Posted on: Saturday, March 14, 2020 5:03:39 PM PST

Welcome to Design 4 (Space Planning). These are critical times. Our safety and well being are of utmost
importance. Let us remember that always. Do not do anything that will put yourself or your family to
harm. If you have any problem complying with the requirements of this course, please message me by
Blackboard and we will discuss your predicament.

All official instructions regarding the course will be through Blackboard. All my uploads will be through
our class Google Drive. All your downloads (submissions) will be through our class Google Drive. I will
announce through Messenger that I have uploaded or wrote something in Blackboard or uploaded
something in Google Drive. Once you have read it, just "like" or "heart" the message. It means you have
read or downloaded the attachment. Only "like" or "heart" when you have done so. Once 40 "hearts"
are recorded, that file will be removed. Google Drive offers only a limited space per account.

We usually have three plates, but I think we can do with two. I will assume that we might not be able to
physically meet for a long time. I also know the limitations of working at home on plates. So all
submissions will be done as a "pdf" file and submitted through Google Drive. You can consult with me by
sending a file with the word "Consult" and your name and date. I will give my comments and retitle it
"Returned" with your name and date (of submission). Final submissions shall have the word "Final" and
your name and date. I will release your scores through BBL.

Hopefully we can survive this term. You will have to work extra hard. You might have to work alone this
time around, but we can still learn as a team. Be strong. Be safe. Remember to communicate your
difficulties, questions and opinions. Use Messenger or BBL. I will open up the forum section of this
course so everyone can see what you are thinking. We learn together.

Please check your Messenger every Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

That is it for now. I will make further contents in the future.

Barangay Hall

Posted on: Monday, March 16, 2020 12:45:13 PM PST

Barangay Hall

Locate your own Barangay Hall on Google Earth or Google Map. Get the area, bearings & distances of
the lot where it stands. Your mission is to design the barangay hall on the same lot. Assume that the lot
is empty. Make sure that your design is an improvement to the existing one.

Collect the site data, analyze, and use your analysis to provide an appropriate design. All of these data
could be found on the internet, so no need to actually go beyond your house or barangay.

Required Drawings: (100pts)

Floor Plans 1:50 (as many plans as you have storeys)

Elevations 1:50 (4 sides, or one per side if not rectangualr)

Sections 1:50 (2 sections, one through stairs)

Roof Plan 1:50

Site Plan 1:50 (can be integrated with Ground Floor Plan (not Roof Plan).

Required Documents: (100pts)

Schedule of Finishes (pdf of Excel File)

Project Brief, Site Data & Analysis, and other write-ups (pdf of Word file)

If you have questions, I am encouraging you to do so, ask them in the Discussion Board "Barangay Hall".

DEADLINE: April 20, 2020,  12 Noon.

Comment re site plan: Site plan can be integrated with grd floor plan
Need details including wheel guards atambulance parking, flag pole, signage, etc.

Gen comment: space between desk and back wall, min 1.00m, normally 1.20 to 1.10m. Some of your desks dont
comply. 0.60m is just too tight, try it for yourself.

Grd floor comment: 1. Stairs, as drawn is wrong. I am assuming the layout on 2nd floor is correct.

2. Lavatory outside toilets is good idea but wall space is too narrow. You need 0.80m wall.
3. Waiting area chairs might be better on the opposite wall so they can see if they are next.

You need a door to access the back yard.

2nd flr comment: 1. Breastfeeding stations, try curtain partition instead.
3rd flr comment: 1. For single toilets, std wall space per fixture is 0.80. So wc & lav needs 1.20x1.60m. clear.
2nd flr comment: 2. For single toilets, std wall space per fixture is 0.80. So wc & lav needs 1.20x1.60m. clear.
Ground floor comment: 4. Convert toilets to single PWD toilet.
5. To avoid ramps, level change from ambulance parking to ffl should be 0.01m.
For pwd toilets, usual inside dimension is 1.80x1.80m, 0.90m doors swing out, dont forget the grab bars (railings).

Last na:

1. Dimensions and grid lines for all floors.

2. Columns should be .35x.35. Checked your layout, no problem with all columns.

3. Pwd toilet det as illustrated below

Yes pls. Palit lang. I see no conflict with layout. Slight complication with pwd toilets, but see pwd changes
sa image na pinadala ko. After that ok na. Elev section na.
