Outline of Product
This lensrneter is used for measuring single vision lenses, bifocal (trifocal) lenses, Pro-
gressive Power Lenses (PPL), and Contact Lenses (CL).
1t.has a measuring unit and a display unit in front, and a printer unit on the right side.
The measuring unit is comprised of a Nosepiece, a Lens Table, a Lens Holder, and a Lens
Marker. Below the Nosepiece, there is also a Read Button for recording measured data
and a Nose Slider on the Lens Table for measuring Pupil Distance (PD) of spectacles.
The display unit utilizes a full-graphic LCD, displaying measured values of right-eye
and left-eye lenses at one time, and graphically sho\ving the alignment condition in the
shape of a Target. This graphic Target is especially useful when measuring PPL, since
the Target moves on the illustration of PPL on the display to show the relation between
the measuring point and the progressive channel of the lens. The ADD potver value is
also graphically indicated.
Icons are conveniently located on the screen, next to the corresponding operational
buttons.
Since there is no difference in operating procedures of two types of the Lens Markers,
Ink Pad Type and Ink Cartridge Type, this manual concentrates o:l the Ink Cartridge
Type.

SAFETY

In this manual, Signal Czlords are used to designate a degree or level of safety alter-
ing, whose definitions are as follows.

A DANGER: Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided,

will result in death o r serious injury.
A WARNING: Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
could result in death or serious injury.
A CAUTION: Indicates a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
will result in minor o r moderate injury or property damage acci-
dent.
A
When using this system, be sure to follow all the instructions below in order to avoid
damage to the personnel and the system.

2.1 Operation

P\ CAUTION
*Do not modify o r touch inside of the instrument.
You may get an electric shock or the system may malfunction.

Be sure to use the specified electrical current.

If the supplied voltage is too high or too low, the instrument may not work
sufficiently, may malfunction o r cause an electric shock.

Never yank the power cord to discontlect from receptacles but hold the plug.
This can rveaken the metal core of the cord and may result in a fire from short
circuit, o r a n electric shock.

'DO not place the instrument on top of the power cord.

The cover of the cord beconles sagged and ]nay cause a fire or- an electric
shock from short circuit.

eIF the metal core of the power cord is exposed, change the cord to a normal one
immediately. :
It rnay cause an electric shock or a fire.

*Indoor use only.

2.2 In Storage . .

NOTE

a/j
I

Do not store the instrument in a place where it may get \vet or ~vherepoisonous
gas or liquid is stored.

0 Be sure to store the instrument in a place away from direct sunlight and i,vithin the !
specified temperature and humidity.

2.3 In Transference

,ACAUTION
Do not drag the instrument by its cord o r cable.
This may cause possible injury or the instrument damage.

Never grab the frame of the display to lift it up. To carry the instrument, hold it ]
'..rnr_-rir*liu
from the backside with both your hands on its base.

NOTE
*Avoid using the instrument where wind from air conditioner blows directly.
Dust may drift into the nosepiece and measurement may become in accurate.

.Do not use the instrument in a hot, hurnid or dusty environment.

Such environments produce adverse effect on the instrument.

2.5 In Wirings

/9 CAUTION
Be sure to use the grounding-type wall-outlet for power source.
In the event of electric leak, your may get and electric shock.

2.6 A f t e r Use

/P\ CAUTION - -

0 When the instrument is not in use, turn the power OFF and p u t the dust cover on.
If the instrument is not covered for a long time, dust may affect the measure-
ment accuracy.

0 If the instrument will not be used for a long time, disconnect the power cable
from the wall-outlet
Otherwise, a fire may occur.

*
2.7 In Maintenance

CAUTION I

When repladng the ink cartridge, hold the cartridge down on a hard, subtle
surface, in'bfder to turn the screw safely.
If disassembling is necessary to repair the instrument, be sure to ask your
authorized distributor for servicing.

Take special care not to scratch the protective glass under the nosepiece.
Flaws on the glass substantially lower the reliability of measurement.
