Moreover, in every country plastic waste management is a major concern as it not only damages

environment, kills animals but is also harmful to human health. According to conserve energy
future, plastic items have some type of chemicals called PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyl)
together with PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) which can disrupt the normal
functioning of hormones in the human body. So when these chemicals are consumed by marine
animals, they move through the web and then later into the humans who consume fish and other
marine animals, these chemicals could develop cancers and other serious health conditions. The
ban does not mean plastic items will cease, but the ban will help control individual use of plastic
items, because it’s irresponsible disposal also leads to soil degradation, which makes the soil
infertile and hence affects the agriculture. According to the wisdom post, the soil takes almost
500 years to decompose a single plastic bag; burning plastic items will not help as it releases
poisonous gases into the atmosphere. According to a journal article on the ‘causes of coastal
erosion in Pacific Island Nations by Richard Gillie (1997); had stated that due to the harsh
chemicals of plastic in soil, the soil has lost its fertility, so majority of plants are unable to grow
near coastal, leading to no protection of soil from strong waves and this causes the soil to be
washed away from shoreline.
