Since the supplied data are AA-rated, we assume that these are
“correct”. We expect the connection rule to “pass” in all these cases.
First I ran the program on the supplied data (some records were
excluded for convenience) and determined the number of passes and fails
of the rule.
Let NP be the number of correct records passed by the rule, and NF be the
number of incorrect records failed by the rule. In ideal BRT should
have NP = NF = N.
Then the pair <NP/N, NF/N> can represent the effectiveness of a BRT1. For
convenience, the numbers may be expressed as percentages.
Below, the actual AA-rated data along with program’s output appear
first, followed by the mutated data and program’s output for those
data. To make it obvious for readers, the mutated records are marked
with “****”.

For this metric to be meaningful, N should be large. It is therefore
important to collect a large sample of correct records.
