building. The office building consisted of eight offices, a conference room, locker rooms with facilities, and a control
room. This building was the operations building in a cyanide processing facility. Due to the age of the building the
roof and vapor barrier failed creating mold to break out throughout the building. This project was to manage the
mold remediation process. The project required the internal wall coverings and flooring to be completely removed
and the remaining structure cleaned of mold residue. Additional work included replacing the roof and repairing the
external CMU block walls. The work had to be staged to remove and clean the furniture, cabinets, and fixtures. The
work had to be facilitated while the control room remained in operation. The building was isolated with
controlledingress and egress during the remediation process. During the renovation process asbestos was identified
in the flooring and roofing materials. Change orders were submitted and approved for the asbestos remediation.
After the remediation of the mold and asbestos was completed the building was renovated. The renovation included
installing new roofing components, point tucking and repairing the block walls, installation of new drywall and
flooring, installation of a new membrane roof.
