The Navy League is a member of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP), a targeted
recruitment and employment solution for spouses. MSEP partners Fortune 500 Plus companies with all
services, provides human resource managers with recruitment solutions, prepares military spouses to be
competitive applicants and connects them with employers seeking the 21st century workforce skills and
attributes military spouses possess.
Any company can become a MSEP partner free of charge. Partnerships enable companies to identify and
hire valuable employees — the spouses of our service members. For more information, visit
https://msepjobs.militaryonesource.mil/.

The Navy League also is a supporter of the Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training
Services (VETS) whose mission is to prepare separating service members to transition from the military
to the civilian workforce; provide veterans with critical resources, expertise and training to assist them in
locating and obtaining meaningful careers; and protect the employment rights of the men and women who
serve. Navy League Councils can have a local Department of Labor representative speak at an event to
explain the benefits of the initiative and how veterans and business affiliates can benefit from the
program.

The Navy League has tentative partnerships with the following organizations:

■ CHAMPS: Child Heroes Attached to Military Personnel. Operation CHAMPS’ mission is to engage
civilian communities in giving back to military families through use of “The Little C.H.A.M.P.S.” book
to service members and their families. The book serves a dual purpose: 1) as a therapy tool for military
children to cope with military-connected challenges while acknowledging their sacrifices and 2) to raise
awareness among civilian children about military life and the challenges faced by their military peers.
Information about the program is available online at: www.OperationChamps.org.

■ Unite Us: This is an online networking platform where veterans can find a resource or be a resource.
For councils, this is a new way to find and connect with veterans in the local area. Information about the
program can be found online at: www.uniteus.com.

■ Virtual Flight Academy (VFA): This is a nonprofit youth aviation training program that will offer
instruction to aviators as early as 12 years of age. The objective is to design a fun and stimulating
environment that increases proficiency much earlier than age 22 when formal training at military or
civilian facilities traditionally begins. VFA stitches community, e-learning, and flight simulation services
together to provide an online training environment and experience. More information about the program
is available online at: http://www.virtual-flight-academy.org/

■ United Through Reading (UTR). United Through Reading is the nation’s first nonprofit to promote the
read-aloud experience for separated military families. United Through Reading offers deployed parents
the opportunity to be video-recorded reading storybooks to their children which eases the stress of
separation, maintains positive emotional connections and cultivates a love of reading. Information about
the program can be found online at: http://www.unitedthroughreading.org/

Councils have volunteered to pilot these programs and will report back to the membership at the 2014
National Convention in San Diego as to the benefits of the programs.
