Most people know George Clooney for his role on the TV show
E.R., or his many roles in films such as Michael Clayton and
Ocean’s 11. However, George Clooney is also well-known for
his passion for helping people all over the world.

Clooney is a member of the charity United Way and he gave


one million dollars to this organisation for Hurricane Katrina
victims in the US. Along with other actors he also started the
charity Not On Our Watch. This organisation helps people in
need in many countries around the world. In 2008, Clooney
also became a United Nations Messenger of Peace. The UN
chooses famous or important artists, musicians or sportsmen
to help the work of the UN to improve the lives of billions of
people everywhere.

Clooney gives a lot of time and money to these charities. He


also travels to different countries to help give a voice to the
people who face the problems of war and poverty.
