Book Review for Reinventing Yourself: How to Become the Person You've Always

Wanted to Be Book by Steve Chandler

Steve Chandler author of book Reinventing Yourself has over 30 books to his credit including
Time Warrior, 100 ways to motivate yourself and many others.

I think this book is thought provoking with ideas that can have a major impact on your life if you
allow it to. But one of the biggest problems that many people have when encountering life
changing information is the syndrome of "I already know" A closed mind is a scared mind. If you
truly knew something then you would be doing it.

When you feel stuck in life the words you use everyday can be a powerful place to start
changing your life. The book talks about using the language of intention. We do things because
we want to or we choose to not because we should our we have to. Saying you choose to do
something is a more empowering position to come from. To reinvent yourself and to stop living a
cocoon life it is important to use the language of intention.

The word persona is derived from the Latin for mask. Your personality is merely a mask that we
wear for ourselves and others. When we repeat the same stories, embrace certain traits, and
declare our patterns unchangeable, we’re just collecting evidence to prove we’re consistent. It
holds us back. Our personality becomes a prison of our own making. Children reinvent
themselves moment to moment and adults can do the same. Personality can be replaced with
purpose and you can then turn around and be whoever you need to be based on what you are
creating right moment.

The book goes on to talk about learning how to be the problem because when we're the
problem we are also the solution. We have to adjust our relationship to life accordingly to
reinvent ourselves. If we are the solution we have to be creative about what kind of outcome we
want. An effective way to accomplish reinvention is to convert reaction in creation. Our brains
are a billion dollar biocomputer that has been programmed from birth with limitations and
reactions to the circumstances and situations of life.
