1. What happens when you lose sight of what your body does when presenting or talking in
public?
When I lose sight of my body I get nervous, I don't control it, it moves constantly, the hands
intertwine. Some examples of bad movement are hands in pockets, hands on hips, among others.
2. Which are the benefits of gesturing? Why should you use gestures when presenting?
Using gestures helps speakers express themselves better, allows the audience to better remember
what is being said. The gestures must be consistent with what is said.
3. Which gestures and hand positions make you a more effective communicator?
The gestures and positions that make you have a better posture must first find a base posture,
then the gestures are used according to what is being said.

BODY LANGUAGE

Body language is much more sincere than verbal language. We can easily lie
while we talk, but our body always says the truth. If we are in a class or
conference and we consider boring what the speaker is saying, we will
probably cross our arms, or we will touch our face implying that we are
evaluating the speaker.
In a social event we can see who is the most important person in a small group
by looking at the tip of the shoe, or at the eyes, to see the degree of like or
dislike of a person towards another one. Another good sign is the so called
mirrowing that happens when a person unconsciously imitates the postures of
the person who is in front of her/him. However, if we see someone sitting on
the edge of the sofa, with arms and legs crossed, avoiding eye contact, looking
at his watch, or changing posture every thirty seconds, that means this person
is feeling very uncomfortable, not to mention other attitudes even less polite,
such as yawning (showing fatigue, boredom or drowsiness) or biting the nails
(the person is nervous).
1. According to the article, what is more important, verbal language or body language? Why?
The body language because you can express better with the people and be more social.
2. How can you avoid misunderstandings or uncomfortable moments both in social and work
situations?

Write two paragraphs about a movie genre you like and a genre you dislike. Explain your reasons.
Give examples of movies for each genre and include their photos.
When writing the text take into account the following aspects: punctuation, capital letters, spelling
and appropriate grammar and vocabulary.
One movie I like is Crash, and it's suspenseful. I like this film because it deals with
the various types of discrimination that occur in a country like the United States,
where discrimination based on race, gender, culture, Xenophobia, among others.
Likewise, this film is a reflection of a situation that exists all over the planet due to
social inequality, lack of opportunities and immigration.
A genre that I do not like is comedy, because I consider that they exceed in saying
silly jokes that lose their meaning when they become repetition of meaningless
ideas. This type of film seems boring to me because it falls into monotony and
presents a group of people who laugh, but I do not find any sense.
