Part 1: The Meaning of the Universal Right to Education

1. Discuss what it means when the Council Fathers say that education is a universal
right?
 When the council Fathers say that education is universal right because everyone has the right to an
education based on their ability, gender, culture and tradition of their country. The goal of a true
education is to form the human being for his or her own dignity and for the good of the society.

2. What are the two main aims of true human formation? How do these aims relate to
the living of a Christian life?
 Fostering of true unity and pace on earth. For the true education aims at the formation of the human
person in the pursuit of his ultimate end and of the good of the societies of which as man, he is a
member and in whose obligations, as an adult he will share.

1. In what way does the Declaration on Christian Education provide for the education of
the whole person? How is this done in your school?
 Preparing people to enjoy life with God does not in any way entail inviting them to turn away from
this world, its need their responsibilities another motivate to appraise moral values with a right
conscience and to embrace them with personal adherence, together with a deeper knowledge and love
of God, lastly to developed their spiritual faith. In catholic school we have moral theology which helps
many students to help them grow in grace and virtue and they encourage students to join any catholic
activities inside or outside catholic school like prayers, attending mass etc.

4. Discuss the Church’s position as set forth in the Declaration on Christian Education
on the judging of moral values.
 Children and young people have a right to be motivated to appraise moral values with the right
conscience to embrace them with a personal adherence, together with a deeper knowledge and love of
God. The Son of the Church to give their attention with generosity to the entire field of education.
