Option 1: You will talk to first to your direct superior, because he is immediate boss &

condoning the act of Mohan Kumar. Will try to understand why he has reversed the decision of
yours and what the back ground is and pursue him to review or reconsider the decision.

Merit:

1. By this you will come to know the real and futuristic intention of your immediate superior
2. You also get the opportunity of directly conveying the facts and evidence of fraudulent
acts of Mr. Mohan Lal.
3. Also this is an opportunity to pursue and request superior to reconsider the reversal.
4. Also your immediate boss may tell you the background why is doing so and you may get
convinced in the larger interest of department.
5. By this you are doing your duty as your superior is at more responsible position.

Demerit:

1. Since his decision has already been conveyed through his personal secretory and again
meeting on the same issue may irritate him.
2. He may consider this as act of disobedience on your part.
3. You may antagonize with him and he may spoil your appraisal.
4. He might transfer you to some other department.
Option 2: You will talk to Superior's Boss so as to apprise the act of fraudulent by your
immediate supervisor and the same is being overlooked by him and get some appropriate
advice on the matter.

Merit:

1. You are not accepting the wrong things and taking forward to bring to the notice of
superior’s boss.
2. He is in position to reverse your superior’s decision which is not correct.
3. You have done your duty to escalate the matter further.
4. He may give some valuable input or advice which may take you out from stress or
dilemma.
5. Through him you may get the your decision endorsed.

Demerit:

1. By approaching superior’s boss you may displease and antagonize with your superior.
2. He may also stick to same decision or opinion which has been given by immediate
superior.

Option 3: You will act on the advice of immediate superior and provide Mohan Lal the welfare
benefits as entitled, but verbally counsel/ reprimand the Mohan Lal for consequence of such
acts in future. With this you are following the advice of your superior and not antagonizing
directly from him and secondly at your level you are trying to counsel so as to correct the
behavior /act of Mohan lal.

Merit:

1. You are following /obeying the advice or decision of your superior.


2. You are not antagonizing with superior.
3. You are taking action at your own level by reforming the Mohan Lal.
4. Also you do not get into the enmity of Mohan Lal.

Demerit:

1. Since you are not escalating the matter means you are compromising the ethics and
Integrity.
2. You are working against your conscience.

Option 4 : You will act on the advice of immediate superior and provide Mohan Lal the welfare
benefits as entitled but under protest by recording your observation/findings in writing, at the
same time verbally counsel/ reprimand the Mohan lal for consequence of such acts in future, in
your own capacity.
Merit:

1. You are following/ obeying the advice of your Superior.


2. You are recording your protest in writing so as to safeguard yourself.
3. At the same time making efforts to reform the Mr. Mohan lal to avoid future fraudulent
acts.

Demerit:

1. You are losing an opportunity to curb the wrong thing at initial stage by escalating the
matter to boss of superior.

Options 5: You resign from the job, so that you do not become party to fraudulent act of Mohan
lal by providing welfare benefits which he is not entitled to due to his fraud in working.

Merit:

1. Resignation is also one form of protest and by doing so you are getting away from the
corrupt system for future.
2. You maintain your integrity to work as you are resigning on moral grounds and under
protest.

Demerit:

1. Resigning is no solution to the problem and you should fight by remaining in the welfare
department.
2. By resigning also you give a message of shrugging away from your responsibility to set
the system right.
3. Also it will encourage immediate superior to support Mohan lal and others in future, as
there would be no such person to put the resistance.

Option 6: You immediately search for the job and after getting the suitable job, you resign form
existing job, till that time you do not provide the welfare benefits to Mohan Lal.

Merit:

1. You are making yourself safe and also registering the protest against the decision of
Superior.
2. As you have searched alternate job therefore you are not out of Job which you are in
need of.
3. You are putting resistance to the decision of your superior and withholding the welfare
benefits.

Demerit:
1. Though you are getting alternate job after resigning but the message in the department
may be that you are running away from duty and not fighting the system.
2. Since you are withholding the welfare benefits to Mohan Lal. You develop enmity
temporarily also from Mr. Mohan Lal.

Lastly what would you do and why.

Steps you will take:

1. Directly talk to immediate superior and apprise him the actual situation with facts and
evidence about the fraudulent act of Mohan Lal and ask him to pursue and request for
review of decision. If he agrees, go ahead with withholding the welfare benefits of Mohan
Lal.

If he is not ready to review the decision. Then

2. Seek appointment with superior’s boss, meet and apprise him about the whole situation
and the decision on subject matter by your immediate superior and seek his advice and
decision.

If he supports you and reverses the decision of your immediate superior, go ahead with
that. If not then

3. Provide the welfare benefits to Mohan Lal with record note of protest and the
circumstances in which the same is being provided. In parallel, search for appropriate
Job and put up your resignation and mention the reason of leaving the welfare
department. This will ensure that you have the job in hand which you are need of. Also
with this action you will not be party to such act of misappropriations in future.
4. If you do not get the job immediately remain there in the welfare department but under
protest & keep on working and take your colleagues in to confidence and convey them
the situation. And always keep your difference of opinion with immediate superior
recorded somewhere.
5. It is always better to remain in the system and fight out the corrupt or wrong practices
and establish ethics and create an example for others to desist from such fraudulent
acts.
