Sahara India pariwar is an Indian conglomerate with diversified business and asset including India’s largest
land bank spread in cities across India. Its headquarter is in Lucknow, India. It is a privately held company
founded nearly about 42 years ago in 1978 (Gorakhpur) by Subrata Roy who is also the chairman and
managing worker of the company. The group operate different business sectors such as infrastructure and
housing, finance, media and entertainment, health care, education, hospitality and information technology
and it has been a major promoter of sports in India, In addition it operates the power plant to generate power
from bio-fuel. In the year of 2004 Sahara group was declared as the “2nd largest employer in India” by Time
magazine with its employ strength around 1.4 million and the group operate more than 5000 establishment
across India.

Sahara India pariwar also taken many sports initiative, It is currently serving its
third consecutive terms as the official sponsor of Indian cricket team – A proud association that began in
2001. Officially it also sponsors Asia’s oldest football league – The Calcutta football league, the senior
Indian Hockey Team since in the year 2003. On other hand Sahara India pariwar is fully dedicated towards
its social corporate responsibility, many social initiatives has been taken for the upliftment of the society by
Sahara such as Sahara welfare foundation, Mega rehabilitation project Sahara gram, adoption of families of
kargil Martyrs and financial assistance of the families of Mumbai martyrs’. Its one of the most important
program is “Sakshar bharat” it is a literacy programme which aims to educate children and adult of slum
cites and area.

If we talk about the current book value of gross assets of Sahara India then it is more than USD 63 billion.
