ES series Firmwares update procedure 
 
This is an instruction which helps you to update (1) DCPU firmware and (2) TS_COMM firmware. Before carrying out 
the updates, please check that "TS_Loader","TSC_Loader", "DCPU firmware" and "TS_COMM firmware" are avaliable 
and activated on your PC.   
 
Note: 
‐  In  order  to  update  correctly,  ‘TS  Loader’  and  ‘TS_COMM  Loader’MUST  be  installed  before  starting  the  following 
procedure. 
‐  .NET Framework 2.0 is required on your PC to activate TS_COMM Loader. If it is not avaliale on your PC, please obtain 
the installer from the following web page and install it on your PC. :

‐  Also,  please  check  that  your  PC  and  Total  Station  are  connceted  via  DOC210  interface  cable.  (Mostly,  a  USB  cable 
which connects DOC210 and your PC is required, too) In addition, please check the batteies are charged well. 
‐  When a serial port is not mounted on the PC, a USB‐serial conversion cable is necessary to use USB port. 
 
1. DCPU firmware update 
1‐1. DCPU firmware update 
 
[Total Sation] 
1. Start it in boot‐mode. 
Please hold down {ENT} & {ENT} keys, and press Power key on the instrument panel . The following screen will 
appear on the instrument display. (The battery must be charged fully) 

 
 
When  pressing  {ENT}  key  on the  instrument  panel,  the  following  screen  will  appear  on  the  instrument  display. 
(*This screen will keep appearing until DCPU firmware is updated) 

 
* As next procedure, start TS Loader and then install DCPU program. 
[PC] 
1.  Start TS Loader. 
Please double‐click DCPU firmware file (Extension : *.sbc),then TS_Loader tool can be activated and the following 
screen will appear.   
* As for the installation of TS Loader tool, please refer to "TS Loader Installation Procedure" 

 
 
*Please check if the proper port is activated with "WINDOWS Device Manager" 
 
2.  DCPUfirmware update 
Please cleick [Load Now] button, then the update action will start. 

 
 After the firmware update is complete, the following dialog box will appear. (*It takes approx. Five (5) minutes)

Note： 
Pleaseensure that the checksums are matched. After that, please click [OK] button and close the TS_loader tool. 
 
 
1‐2. Check 
Please check the following screen on Total Station, so you could see if DCPU firmware can be updated properly.   

 
 
Note: 
*   If "User Registeration screen" appears on the display, please activate Demo mode, so you could see the above 
screen. 
(The following procedure is required only to models into which TSshield is installed.)
 
2. TS_COMM firmware update 
2‐1.TS_COMM firmware update 
 
Note: 
‐  Please check that your PC and Total Station are connceted via DOC 210 interface cable. (Mostly, a USB cable which 
connects DOC210 and your PC is required, too) In addition, please check the batteies are charged well. 
‐  "TsCommCE.dll" file should be stored in the folder of the file "TSC_Loader1006.exe". 
 
[Total Station] 
1. Start it in download‐mode. 
Please  hold  down  {F4}  &  {ENT}  keys,  and  press  Power  key  on  the  instrument  panel  .  The  following  screen  will 
appear on the instrument display. 

 
 
2.  Please select [TS_COMM <‐‐‐> PC] button and then press {ENT} key on the panel. 

 
 
After approx. fifteeen (15) seconds, the following screen will appear on the instrument display.   

 
*  As next procedure, start TS Loader and then install TS_COMM program. 
Installation  of  TS_COMM  program  must  be  hold  until  the  above  standby  state  (black  &  white  reversing 
charactors) is displayed. 
 
Note: 
When update is completed, press [ESC] to go back to the menu screen. 
[PC] 
1.  Start TS_COMM Loader. 
Please  double‐click  "TSC_Loader1006.exe".  Then,  TS_COMM  Loader  tool  ican  be  activated  and  the  following 
screen will appear. 

 
 
Note:

*Please check if the proper port is activated with "WINDOWS Device Manager" 
 
2.  TS_COMM firmware installation 
Please click [INSTALL] button on the above screen. The installation will starts (It takes approx. one (1) minute) 

 
 
After the installation is complete, the following dialog box will appear. The installtion is finished to to click  【OK】
button.   

 
 
 
 
 
 
2‐2. Check 
 
1.  After  the  update  is  complete,  please  press  {ESC}  key  on  the  instrument  panel.  Then,  the  following  screen  will 
appear on the display.   

 
 
2.  Please  select  [Firmware  version]  button,  then  press  {ENT}  key  on  the  panel.  After  approx.  fifteen (15)  seconds 
passes, the following screen will appear, so you could see if TS_COMM firmware can be updated properly.   

 
 
3.    Power OFF
