Answer question:
1) I would say that the culture of Massachusetts is not sufficiently different from that
of Colorado but rather that Janet just feels out of place. It is the same culture that both
states speak English, know the same slang, use the same gestures, and are in the same
nation. Yes there are differences across state lines but nothing that would signify
intercultural communication.

2) I believe that she would have had the same reactions even if she had moved into a
coeducational dorm in Massachusetts. She was anxious about living with men she did
not know as well as other people who she felt were superficial. Either place she went
to college she would have felt this way because she grew up close to her family and
friends in a small town.

 1. When Dele and Anibal first begin their studies in the United States I would say
yes they are participating in intercultural communication as they are both from
different cultures. They have both just arrived in the United States from their
respective countries and are going to communicating interculturally as they
both are from two different cultures.

2) When Dele and Anibal complete their studies in the United States they are no
longer participating in intercultural communication as they have spent the last eight
years together in the same country. They have been living together, studying the same
classes, and participated in the same activities creating a sort of understanding between
the two men. This will cause them to no longer be participating in intercultural
communication.
3) When they return home they are again participating in intercultural communication
as they have slowly become more adapted to the culture of the United States. They are
now again participating in intercultural communication as they are now
communicating between two cultures again.
