THE PEACOCK AND THE RACCOON.

In a wonderful and beautiful forest, there was a large lake, and around it lived large numbers of
animals of all kinds. Among all of them, a large peacock with long and bright feathers stood out,
endowed with an unparalleled beauty and who was considered the most beautiful peacock in the
forest, his clothing was always a magical cape full of colors, kept in a flying carpet that was
shining brilliant. It was so beautiful that he had won all the beauty pageants he had entered, and
that made him walk more and more proud, despising all other animals, and even refused to talk
to them, because he was not willing to be seen with animals that were so ugly and unpleasant.
Such was the degree of vanity that the animals were tired of him and one day a raccoon teaches
him a good lesson.

One day the raccoon made the decision to go to the peacock, and in front of everyone he told
him: "That he was not so beautiful, that he won all the competitions was because the juries were
influenced by his fame, and everyone knew that he a little raccoon was more beautiful.” Then the
peacock was enraged, and between laughs and scorn he said "but what nonsense are you saying,
me l win you a contest with the jury you want". The raccoon accepted and said to meet on
Saturday, and turning away, he walked away very proud, without giving the peacock time to say
anything else.

That Saturday, it was quite an event in the forest and everyone attended, the peacock washed in
the lake with great care and when it dried its white feathers shone like the sun itself. The peacock
marched confidently and terribly haughty, until it saw who made up the jury which were: weasel,
mice and a badger. She quickly understood that beauty depended on who was looking at her and
that this ugly raccoon for the animals that made up the jury was very beautiful because it was
similar to them, and that he, with all his majesty, was not the least bit attractive for them. So the
raccoon clearly won the contest, leaving the peacock tearful and humiliated, but learning a lesson
that he would never forget, from that moment on he was kind to all the animals, talking to them
and helping them in what he could, and finally the Peacock became very friendly with the
raccoon and They lived happily ever after.
