AUTOMATIC SEAT BELT BASED IGNITION SYSTEM

SYNOPSIS

Seat belts have proved to be one of the most effective safeguards against

death and injury in a vehicle crash. The working principle of the seal belt based

ignition system is as follows, it has a seat belt sensor unit which senses for the

seat belt (buckled up or not). This sensor is power by the battery which could be

merely the car’s battery. The sensed signal is sent to the control unit, to which

the car’s ignition key system also gets connected. When the seat belt is buckled

up the sensor senses the signal and makes the system loop closed and makes

way for the system for the ignition. The sensor sends the signal to the control

unit which makes the loop closed, and now when the key is turned or switched

to ignition. The engine gets started and it continues to run. The ignition does not

switches to on when the seat belt is not buckled up, this is because the sensor

does not send any sensed signal to the controller and hence the system remains

open, so it does not gets ignited.

ADVANTAGES

Some of the advantages of the this type of the system are as follows
 The engine does not start if the seat belt is not buckled up. So one can
ensure the safety of the person inside the car.
 This can even reduce damages up to 50% in the accidental hazards
 The system gets the supply through 12v battery which can be easily put
inside any vehicle.
 The system response time is barely 2ms which makes it respond faster.
 This system makes seat belt wearing mandatory.
APPLICATIONS
 It can be used in all the four-wheelers,
 It can also be used for the heavy vehicles,
