OneDOST Against COVID-19!

Not happy to simply watch our front liners battle it out with the Covid19 menace, the DOST
Regional Office in Central Luzon crafted a plan to help provide the much needed personal protective
equipment (PPE) and 70% alcohol disinfectant to selected hospitals in Bulacan, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija
and Bataan. With P1.125 Million from its Grant-in-Aid Fund, the “OneDOST Against Covid19” project
was born after a couple of days of message exchanges among the rank and file of this DOST Regional
Office.

Trying to find somebody to manufacture the PPEs during the

Luzon Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) was somewhat
frustrating at first but Mrs. Daisy Slowik, owner of Rondayvu
Manufacturing Corporation that rents a space at the DOST TRC facility
in Concepcion, Tarlac rose to the challenge. Mrs. Slowik promised to
produce protective suits if we could help secure transport permit for
her workforce and raw materials from Manila. The RDRRMC which is
headed by OCD3 RD Tet Escolano immediately coordinated with the
PNP which helped facilitate the same. As soon as the 500 protective
suits with face masks are done, these will be packed together with the
1,400 pcs N95 facemasks that will be supplied by Preemie Philippines
and LSG Industrial & Office Products, Inc, the 3D printed face shields
manufactured by Philippine Science High School – CLARK Campus, and
bottles of alcohol/disinfectant procured by the DOST3 RSTL. The same
will be distributed for free to Sacred Heart Hospital of Malolos, Jose B.
Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital and Diosdado P. Macapagal
Memorial Hospital in City of San Fernando, Pampanga; Dr. Paulino J.
Garcia Memorial Medical Center in Cabanatuan City; and Bataan
General Hospital and Medical Center as well as St. Joseph Hospital
and Medical Center in Balanga City,Bataan.
The PNP personnel manning 4 strategic checkpoints near the two (2) Covid19 treatment hospitals
in the City of San Fernando, as well as the 400 indigent families in Brgy. Maimpis where the DOST
Regional Office is located will be provided with washable masks which will be supplied by Yellow Ladies
Cooperative, a DOST3 consultancy and training beneficiary.

The two (2) hospitals in the City of San Fernando, the four (4) strategic checkpoints, as well as the
400 indigent families in Brgy. Maimpis will be provided with food packs every other day for 14 days.
Culinarya Pampanga, our partner Halal Food Provider during the SEA Games, formulated the recipe of
the nutritious Veggie-buns while SETUP beneficiary, Lailen’s Pastries agreed to produce the said buns for
the project. Similarly, the DOST FNRI project partner Gintong Kusina Producers Cooperative from
Guiguinto, Bulacan agreed to produce rice-mongo crunchies, while the DAR-DTI-DOST Synchronization
Program and Food Safety Writeshops beneficiary Concepcion Calamansi Growers and Rice Producers
Cooperative agreed to produce ready to drink Calamansi Juice.

The PPEs and food packs

will be prepared and labelled by DOST3 personnel at the DOST Regional Office
using labels designed by DOST PSTC-NE and printed for free by the Nueva
Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST). The 10,500 food packs will be picked up every
other day for 14 days by the Regional Interagency Task Force for Covid-19
and the Pampanga Police Provincial Office who shall assist in the transport
and distribution of the PPEs and food packs to the intended beneficiaries.

Aligned with President Duterte’s Bayanihan Heal as One Act under

RA 11469, volunteer efforts from different government agencies in Central
