CHAPTER FIVE

Findings, Conclusion, and Recommendation

5.1 Findings
Based on the results of the data, the findings show the difference in plant growth,
germination and survivability of the plants. The data shows the 60:40 ratio having the
greatest number of surviving plants, furthermore the 60:40 ratio has the most stable ratio
of the three, because it provides good starting germination and plant height at the end of
the 20 day experiment. In addition, the 50:50 ratio of compost and sand also has an
average effect on the height and plant growth, but in terms of germination the 50:50 ratio
started low in the early days of the experiment. On the other hand the 70:30 ratio
promotes good germination of the plant, but in contrast the 70:30 differs from the other
ratios, because it has lowest surviving probability of the plant and lessens the plant
growth and height. Therefore the mung beans can highly survive in the 60:40 ratio
because the balance of the compost and sand can highly improve the plant. Then again
the 70:30 and 50:50 provide lower improvements to the mung plant. Furthermore the
mung bean is Silicon base reliant, due to this the 70:30 ratio lowers the probability for the
mung plant to survive, but the 50:50 ratio also lowers the probability, because the
threshold of mung plant exceeds the normal amount of silicon base content of the soil. In
addition, sand is highly acidic to the plants making the 50:50 ratio the least probable ratio
for plant growth.

5.2 Conclusion
This collection of information mainly focuses of making fertilizer by combining
beach sand and compost fertilizer. The beach sand compost fertilizer is proven effective
when used on mung bean plant. Based on the data gathered, the different ratio of sand
and compost has a significant effect to plants in terms of plant growth. Furthermore, the
data approve that adding beach sand to compost increases the efficiency of the fertilizer.

According to the data, there is a significant difference among the means of three
ratios 50/50, 60/40, and 70/30. The Single ANOVA shows that the F value between the
means of the plant height and number of leaves is greater than that of the f critical value.
This means that the null hypothesis of the study should be rejected and therefore accepts
the alternative hypothesis. Using Scheffe test, a post hoc test, it is proven that there is a
significant difference between the mean pairs of the three ratio 50/50, 60/40 and 70/30.

5.3Recommendation
The researchers recommend the following:

 There should be different types of species of plants for the experiment for it will
help differentiate the test effectiveness of the compost beach sand fertilizer in
terms of plant versatility. It will also help us know what kind of plant it is most
effective and what kind of plant it will be less effective.

 The experiment time should be longer because the longer the time the more
visible the effects of the compost-beach sand to plants thus giving us clearer and
more accurate data.

 Environmental factors should also be observed like the temperature and the
organisms living in the experiment area. Even the slightest factor could affect the
growth of plant.

 The sand should be taken from different beaches because the concentration of
silicon dioxide in sand differs depending on its location and origin. Some beach
sand came from basaltic rock which has a low concentration of silicon dioxide.

 The sand should be mixed with various type of fertilizer to know which fertilizer
is much more compatible with beach sand.

 There should be a ratio of sand and fertilizer where sand has a higher percentage
composition than the fertilizer.
