Chapter Three Methodology: 1.1 Research Design
Methodology
1.1 Research Design
The objective of the study is to create a compost-beach san mixture fertilizer.
Furthermore, Experimental Research Design will be used to conduct the research.
Internal validity will be measured in the study.
The design will be helpful in measuring the relationship between the dependent
variable; growth of plants in terms of length of stem and number of leaves, to the
independent variable; ratio of compost-beach sand mixture fertilizer.
Barangay Bugo has good vegetation with less pollution that makes it a convenient
area to conduct the experiment.
1.3 Instrumentation
An experiment will be conducted to measure the variable of the study.
1. First, the materials needed for the experiment will be gathered. The materials are:
a. 30 mung bean seed
b. 30 plastic plant bags
c. 2 kilos compost
d. 2 kilos beach sand
e. Shovel
f. Digital weighing scale
g. Plastic gloves
h. Water
i. Bowl
j. Tape measure
2. For the 60:40 ratios, measure 150 grams of compost and 100 grams of beach
sand then mix it together. Repeat until a total of 10 mixtures are reached.
3. For the 70:30 ratios, measure 175 grams of compost and 75 grams of beach sand
then mix it together. Repeat until a total 10 mixtures are reached.
4. For the 50:50 ratios, measure 125 grams of compost and 125 grams of beach
sand then mix it together. Repeat until a total of 10 mixtures are reached.
5. Moisten the mixtures with water.
6. Soak the beans in a bowl of water overnight.
7. When the seeds are ready, plant it on the mixtures and let it grow.
8. Water the plants early in the morning.
9. Observe and measure the growth of plants.
After the samples are planted, the researchers will observe the plants for 30 days
for growth and development.
Growth will be measured in terms of length (in centimetres) and number of leaves
on the plant.
