Cage Assembly BROCK® Outside Ladder and Cage
Cage Assembly
Ladder-and-Cage Sections are installed approximately every 44'' [1 118] as the Bin
is raised. The Cage continues on down the Ladder to within 84" [2 134] to 96" [2
438] of a Platform or the Foundation.
Hoop Halves
49 The Cage is begun by joining two (2) Hoop
Halves (Item 15), even with the top of the
Figure 26. Ladder Extension Rails, above the Eave.
Top Cage Hoop Even with Top of Align the three front holes and overlap the
Extension Rails (Farm Ladder) two (2) Hoop Halves. Connect with 5/16 x
3/4'' Hex Head Bin Seal Bolts, Bolt heads
inside, and 5/16'' Hex Nuts, leaving a Bolt
44 1 out of the center hole. Tighten Bolts from
1* the head side (Figure 27 Detail B).
45 Connect the Hoop ends to the front side* of
12 the Ladder Extension Rail with Locking
Clip assemblies (Item 1), secured on the
outside with Flange Nuts.
48 46 See Figures 27-31.
Cage Channels
47 Vertical Cage Channels (Item 16) are
shipped in bundles of eight (8). The Cage
TOP VIEW has seven (7) Channels around.
Channels connect outside the Hoop Halves
with the same hardware as above, Bolt heads
inside. Tighten Bolts from the head side.

Cage Assembly BROCK® Outside Ladder and Cage
Channel Overlap
Overlap Channels to attain exact Cage height. For Cage Channels to end at the
proper height above the foundation, they often overlap and use the second hole
position from the end (see * Figure 28 at left) to take up extra length (one Channel
for 10'' [254] or both for 20'' [508]). This overlap can be made at any time during a
straight run of the Ladder before reaching the flared Bottom Section. For any
overlap needed per running section (Top/Mid/Bottom), locate your model (Ladder
Complete) on the Chart on pages 32-33. Go straight across from each section to the
Overlap column to find the take-up length for each run.
Cage Side Bracing with Channels
IMPORTANT! In longer Ladder runs between Platforms and at the Flare, use leftover
Channels to brace the Cage sideways to the bin.
Flatten and break the end of the Channel. Bolt it to the tank wall and Cage to stabilize
the Cage. See Figure 29 below.
