picture for each letter

❑ Do a brain break activity each
day
❑ Send a picture or short note
to your teacher
❑ Read a story and then act out
an event for someone
❑ Write a how-to piece that can
teach someone how to do
something
❑ Expl ore some online
learning sites and try some
di fferent activities
❑ Write down the
temperature each day for
one week. Which day was
warmest? Coolest?
❑ Buy a new workbook and
practice reading, writing,
spelling, or math each day
❑ Practice writing capital
letters, l owercase letters,
and numbers correctly
❑ Write in a journal to tell
what happened each day
❑ Read a book and retell the
story to someone
❑ Count to 120 by ones and
then by tens. Try twos and
fives, too!
❑ Draw a picture and write a
number sentence to go

• I send this home with my students during vacations, such

as Thanksgi ving Break, Winter Break, or Spring Break.

• These are not requi red acti vities by any means, but

someti mes littles ones (and thei r parents) want something

to do during extended breaks from school.

• Instead of sending packets of work that take my ti me,

energy, and resources and may not even be completed by

students, this is a si mple one-page list of ideas and

suggestions that they can do as much or as little of as they

want!

• Having “teacher-assigned” acti vities often helps families

keep up study routines during ti me off from school.
