Some organizations believe that their employees should dress smartly. Others value
the quality of work above appearance.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
• Answer:
Recently, whether or not preparing a wise outfit should be encouraged uppermost
as opposed to increasing the work productivity is a bone of contention among public enterprises.
This essay will highlight the idea that both factors are equally justifiable on the grounds that
these two qualities support and consolidate each other.
On the one hand, in such an age where services arise to be the primary orientation
of many countries' development, it stands to reason to argue that wearing formal clothes serves
an indispensable role in impulsing impression on customers, especially jobs requiring frequent
interactions with clients such as consultants and marketers. In addition, a well-dressed
employee is assumed to possibly illustrate the professionalism rate of the company somehow.
As a result, the service consumers grant more trust on the organizations, which is within the
bounds possibility that the profits will be increased. Moreover, an appropriate outfit can boost
the employees’ confidence, the work performance will be consequently enhanced.
On the other hand, outlook is sometimes not everything. Albeit the aforementioned
potential benefits of an ideal apperance, what truly maintains the stable development of a
company is the working quality. Taking too much care of the appearance means the employees
are unable to focus and invest more efforts to upgrade the quality of work. They rack their brain
on the clothes, fashion styles even when they are at work, not on how to make their
organizations grow. This aspect happens to be true even on the football field, the French
international Paul Pogba can be seen as a salient example for the drawback of putting the
appearance on the top of priority list. He has performed poorly in every match he plays since
he took up the habit of changing his hair style, which makes the fans disappointed and even
filled with anger.
All things considered, although a practical appearance or working performance is
undoubtedly a hot debate among the organisations, this issue depends on the type of
occupations. From my perspective, it is worth considering that employees' productivity and
creativity devote mostly to the development of the organisations as well as the satisfaction of
the costumers.
