really hated school. I became an apprentice electrician before joining the Quarrymen in 1958 when I
was 15. _________________
After my visit to India I developed my lifelong passion for Indian music and mysticism.
_________________
I married twice and I had a son, Dhani, with my second wife Olivia. I died in Los Angeles of cancer in
November 2001. _________________
After my parents separated in 1943 when I was 3 I went to leave with my mother. I missed much
schooling because of illness and truancy. _________________
I met the Beatles in Hamburg in 1960 and two years later I replaced Pete Best as their drummer.
_________________
I married twice. I had three sons with my first wife. My son Zak has followed in my footsteps and
become an accomplished drummer. He plays with such bands as The Who and Oasis.
