Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am Mr. Munoz and I will be your child's teacher this school year. I am very
excited and looking forward to a year that will be challenging but will also be
successful as our students work hard to achieve their education goals. I, as will
the rest of the PHS staff will be there to support your child and yourselves every
step of the way.

A bit about myself: This is my third year teaching. I have been a 6th grade and a
9-12 English Literature teacher. I have also had a long, fascinating career in
marketing/advertising, which allowed me to live and work in four countries prior to
coming to Austin 8 years ago. This has given me a global perspective I intend to
implement in the Social Studies and CCT curriculum especially. I have a Master's
degree in History from Sam Houston State University and a bachelor's degree in
Communications/Journalism from Universidad del Valle in Colombia.

Learning will take place remotely at the beginning of the year and we are
confident the Premier High School Model is advantageously prepared to provide
our students with a seamless experience. Our Bright Thinker (previously BUZZ),
Genius and Google Classroom digital platforms will help them to succeed in their
path to graduation. You should have received a “how to” guide from Mr. Aguilera.
I would like to remind you students are required to log into Bright Thinker every
day and check in with their teacher through Google Classroom. We will be using
Google Classroom intensively this year, so please be mindful of your child’s
access to this platform.

We will be requiring weekly completion of Daily Goals for the week. This tool will
be on Google Classroom as a sheet they will fill out by the Monday of the week
and will be part of their attendance record. It is an important tool to get students
used to planning their work and being able to keep a pace that allows them to do
their courses in a timely manner. The Premier method is all about self-direction
and the Goals sheet helps with that discipline.

For your information, I am attaching a copy of this year's syllabus, as well as the
COVID-19 Reopening Plan and a visual about my background. My direct office
number is (512) 666-4930. Office hours are 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, but please leave
a message if after hours and I will respond within the next 24 hours. Do not
hesitate to ask any questions and I am so looking forward to being in touch with
each and every one of you as soon as I can.

Best Regards,
Carlos Munoz
