ABSTRACT
‘Digital Notice and Discussion Board’ is a website that requires user to login to access
all the features. Mainly the website focuses on two things, online updateable notices and a
discussion forum. Registered Users can view the current notices, view the messages in the
forum and send messages. The project, being flexible, other features like ability to assign tasks
to other members can be added as per requirement. This idea was necessary as the students are
unaware of the current affairs due to traditional notice boards kept in some corner of the
college. The main objective of this very project is to eradicate the need to search for notices
around the college when simple update can reach every student in a single website.

1. INTRODUCTION
‘Digital Notice and Discussion Board’ is a web-based application which can be
accessed via internet browsers and use to access the college’s current news, notices. Also, the
platform can be used to have a general text conversation with whoever has been registered,
more like a discussion forum of reddit, stack-overflow.

Users are required to register and login to view the notices and the discussions. The
information is saved in a database for re-login and other proposes like displaying name in
message box. The non-registered users can view the home page with ‘about’ and ‘contact’
information.

Once logged in to the site, users can view the current notices, read and send messages
in the discussion / message forum, change own password, update their profile, request to admin
and so on for now. On the other hand, the administrative panel can delete/update notices, view
messages, manage the registered users, delete the user’s information and reply to contact
request messages by the non- registered users.

1.1 Background
The project was inspired when we realized about the lack of proper information platform
for Kathford or any college for that matter. Notices are still updated in the board where students
rarely even look up to. We wanted to eradicate the traditional notice sharing options and also
added the features of discussion as this is another important features to have in a college for
the students.

The idea was generated when we came across the website of DEERWALK INSTITUTE
OF TECHNOLOGY, http://deerwalk.edu.np/DWIT , where the news are updated in the website
itself and also it has created a platform to advertise all the coming events making it easier for
the students to view and access the latest information of their college.

1.2 Problem Statement

The project notices and other information are not responsively reaching the students.
Program Coordination between the teachers and the students lacks.

1.3 Objectives
The objectives for developing KonnectFord are:

i. To create an Online Notice Board System for the users to view and response.
ii. To speed up the information transmission process.
iii. To implement a user friendly online discussion forum.

1. LITERATURE REVIEW
The online notice system, only existing in few colleges websites like Deerwalk, has shown
us the possibility of how the system can be improved and there are ways, the proposed system
can be executed in a different method like adding the discussion forum for college students and
adding an admin panel to eliminate any offensive activities.

The websites or even the part of the college website is all it takes for the idea to be executed.
The ‘Online Notice and Discussion Board’ is planned to be the improved version of the existing
websites as shown in the websites below. http://deerwalk.edu.np/DWIT

2. METHODOLOGY
As our methodologies we included study of the following:

i. Feasibility Study
 Description
 Technical feasibility
 Financial feasibility
ii. Process Model Study
iii. Tools

3.1 Process Model

Process Model helps to determine the flow of how the project will be completed.
For the early development of this application, we have decided to follow the Agile
SDLC Model.
The reasons we chose this model is because:
● It suits small-medium size project, with rapid changes in the requirements as
customer is involved during each phase.
● Fast release of the first product version.
● Risk are minimized because of flexible change process.
However, later on our journey to complete the project we might change the model
according to our need.

2.2 Tools Used

 Xampp (Server)
 MySQL
 HTML, CSS (Frontend)
 JavaScript
 PHP (Backend)

3
3. FEASIBILTY STUDY
Feasibility studies helps to determine how feasible our project is. We collected
following feasibility study methods.

4.1 Description
The strategy for solving the problem stated is straight forward. First, a website
that has a user-friendly interface will be developed. Then it shows the user the notices
in a slideshow format and the discussion forum can also be accessed in a user-friendly
way/

3.2 Technical feasibility

As this website will not be graphic intensive and is just aimed to provide users with the
support of finding the news, notices and view them in a simple way that supports the users with
general yet interactive interface.

4.3 Financial feasibility

The startup capital needed is none. However, we do need a working laptop to
write our code. All the software that we need for the project are going to be open-source
and free.
