High Power WiFiX Quick Start

This sheet is not intended to replace a thorough reading of the manual

Setting up the High Power WiFiX for Operation

1. Unpack the transceivers, antennas and cables from the packing case.
2. On the side, one transceiver is labeled ICU (“T1”) and the other is labeled CDU (“T2”).

Connecting the Imager-Side Transceiver (ICU)

1. Mount T1 on the ICU with the tab and the two magnets to hold it in place.
2. Affix either antenna to the antenna socket on the top of T1 via the silver antenna adaptor.
3. Attach the data cable (7LRWX00040) to T1 making sure that the red dot on the cable lines
up with the red dot on the transceiver connector.
4. Attach the other side of the data cable to the ICU (or VCU for FoXrayIIe), again, with the
red dots lined up before inserting.

Upon connecting T1 to the ICU - wireless connection between the ICU and the
panel is not possible.

Connect the Computer-Side Transceiver (CDU)

1. Affix the second antenna to the antenna socket on the top of T2 via the silver antenna adaptor.
2. Attach the second data cable (7LRWX00240) to T2 making sure that the red dot on the cable lines up with the
red dot on the transceiver connector.
3. Attach the other side of the data cable to the interface box of the CDU, again, making sure that the red dots
line up before inserting.

When connected to an external power source, either transceiver can operate

continuously. If not connected to an external power source, the transceiver is
using its internal battery and can operate for up to 6 hours between charges.

Getting Ready for Imaging

1. Place the ICU (with the High Power WiFiX mounted on it) on your robot, tripod or other platform and take them,
along with the X-ray Source, Imager and other equipment to the spot where you will perform the imaging.
2. On top of T1, turn on the ON switch.
3. Place the Imager behind the object to be x-rayed and place the X-ray Source in front of the object at the
recommended distance.
4. Ensure that the X-ray Source is centered in front of the object.
5. Make sure that no cables lie between the X-ray Source and the Imager.
6. T2 will remain by the CDU. There, you may use the clip assembly with tripod mount to hold the T2 or place T2
on a flat surface.

Caution: During operation, you should maintain a distance of at least

30 cm from T1 and T2.

Initializing the High Power WiFiX in Xbit/Pro

1. You must tell Xbit/Pro that you are using the High Power WiFiX. To do so, login to Xbit/Pro.
2. From the Options menu, select High Power Wireless (WiFiX).
3. When the transceivers (T1 and T2) create the wireless connection between them (up to 1.5 km given line-of

-sight), Xbit’s Status Bar will indicate Imager Online in the lower-right corner and the Link will display 100 Mbps.

The High Power WiFiX will not operate if the Imager is not online. If
the Imager Online indication does not appear, perform Search Imager.
See the manual for instructions.

Taking X-ray Images

1. Take images with Xbit/Pro in the usual way. Press Alt-F1 to initialize the image-taking process.
2. You can change the exposure, if required, via Xbit/Pro using the green sliding arrow.

3. When you are ready to grab the image, enter Alt-F1. (To abort, click Cancel).

Warning: During the process of obtaining X-ray images, the X-Ray

Source is activated. All safety measures regarding activation of the X-
ray Source must be taken until the final image is received.

Finished Taking X-ray Images

1. When you are done imaging
• Exit Xbit/Pro
• Turn off the ICU transceiver (T1)
• Disassemble and pack up the equipment in the usual manner

Warning:
• Do NOT connect or disconnect the ICU/Imager Connecting Cable
while the ICU is ON and the ICU and Imager power LEDs are lit.
• Before disconnecting the cable, make sure the Imager is offline.
• Quit Xbit before disconnecting the cable. Verify that the Power light
on the ICU is off and then disconnect the cable.

Re-Charging the Transceivers

1. Each transceiver has a battery that lasts up to 6 hours between charges. The Charge display on the transceiver
shows you the amount of charge remaining.

2. You may re-charge the transceivers by using the data cables. Plug one end into the transceiver as described above
and the other end into the interface box connected to an external power source.

Charging a transceiver fully can take up to 4 hours.
