Journey to Cheap Bliss

Ten years ago, I never imagined myself writing an article that would talk through how
gravely and seriously endangered we are presently. It has always been alarming let’s all face it,
but not as alarming as where we are today, uncertain of the future and what beholds our fate. We
are all afraid of a mere projection on the potential consequences of global warming that made
some of us anxious about what could happen next. This time, very troubling real manifestations
should awaken us to be very disturbed and to be really worried.
Recently, the Brazilian Government blinded us while we were being robbed with the right
to live in the Earth. Say, I made it sound like a hyperbole, an exaggeration, but as we see the end of
this journey, that is where this is all going to. Where does the gravely devastation of fire in the
world’s largest rainforest, the Amazon (which supplies 20 percent of oxygen on Earth) would take
us, isn’t it into an impossible future?

However, it is not what I certainly want to point out, but the greed and discontentment of
the government to the things that we have. Innovation and development is never the issue that
could bring us to the depth of an unending trench of destruction, it is our ways to it and how we
acquired it. Human ways are the reason why climate change is “eating” the glaciers, posing a grave
threat to hundreds of millions of people who live downstream and lost a foot and a half of ice every
year. According to CNN, the water is so hot in Alaska, its killing large numbers of salmon;
salmons are dying before they have the chance to spawn, and; the heat decreases the amount of
oxygen in the water, causing salmon to suffocate and die with healthy eggs in their bellies.

But let us not go any further, we may take Philippines for example. The ruling seems so
unfair and uncalled for, leaving a lot of holes to the constitution and digging holes to people who
deserves the position to those who taking care of the environment is the primary advocacy. It is not
about Gina Lopez, I must say before you think this is a campaign or a tribute for her. But it is the
ruling of the government in appointing those people who do not care for the environment and
removing officials who just wanted to prevent our paternal assets from annihilation.

With all those issues from Amazon, the glaciers and the removal of a government official
that protects the nature, I could say that we are hoping for something that the world cannot even
handle to give. We are pressuring the Earth, not minding if it can still support our demands,
demand that are not even a need, but a luxury. We are pleading for a widespread effect of
innovation and whip hand and superiority over other nations in terms of business and technology
thinking as if the world isn’t concern. It has to stop, our minds must not be limited only to things
we must have in order to be more advanced. We must take action and be limit our greed for
pejorative, wrecking and destructible means of innovation. There would always be a time in taking
something slow, time to rest and time to stop. It has to be, we have to, before the world give up on
us.

Our way to what we believe a better future is very blinding and uncertain. If this continues
and there is no one to take lead to stop, we may never wake up to a free world. We might be stuck,
cannot even make a move. What we have to realize is that we do not need to look for happiness
in other things nor to be happy when something has to suffer. We are trading something so
precious and wasting roughly those priceless and valuable things into a cheap bliss. Replacing
something worthy to things that we could only use temporarily. We may end up to bliss defined
as too much happiness, but a cheap one, never real, never lasts.
