OBJECTIVES:
 Assess physical activity, exercise and eating habits
 Determine risk factors related to lifestyle diseases
 Observe healthful eating habits

 It is the optimum level of healthy individuals can perform daily activities free from any form of fatigue.
 Physically fit individuals have the capacity to maintain and do daily tasks without experiencing stress,
making it easier to meet daily demands.
 It also improves not only your physical health but also your mental ability to cope with uncertain events
or occurrences.
 It helps individuals become free from any form of high-risk health conditions.

FITNESS ASSESSMENT – is a series of measurements and tests that will


help identify the status of one’s physical fitness.

BODY MASS INDEX (BMI) – is one of the most demanding fitness assessment tests today because in most of
all the fields in different professions, they use this as part of the physical examination, to assess if the person is
healthy or unhealthy.

WAIST-TO-HIP RATIO – is the ratio of the circumference of the waist to that of the hips. It measures the fat
percentage distributed in the torso.

Risk factors related to lifestyle disease:


 Overweight or obesity
 Family history of premature heart disease
 Cigarette smoking
 Alcohol use
 Physical inactivity
 Unhealthful diet

Healthful eating habits:


 Plain mildly flavoured food

 A glass of milk daily


 A good daily breakfast composed of body-building, energy-giving and regulating food
 Fortified foods with Vitamin A, Vitamin C and minerals like iron and iodine
 Nutritious school snacks and lunch

Nutritional guidelines as part of healthful eating habits:


 Eat a variety of food everyday
 Normal growth through proper diet
 Consume fish, lean meat, poultry and dried beans
 Eat more vegetables, fruits and root crops
 Use iodized salt
 Exercise regularly, do not smoke, and avoid drinking alcoholic beverages

AEROBICS IT IS!

Make an aerobic video minimum of two (2) minutes and maximum of five
(5) minutes. Makes sure to used a background music for your aerobic
exercise.

You can view some aerobic videos on YouTube for reference. You will be
graded according to the appropriateness of your exercise.

You may upload your video in our MAPEH Google Classroom on or before
September 18.

 Explain the guidelines and criteria in the selection and evaluation of health information, products and
services

Consumer health is not just about buying health products and services. It also involves the facts and
understanding that enable people to make wise choices.
Health information, health products and health services are all related to consumer health. Health
information is important in deciding what health products and health services to acquire. Health personnel are
also sources of health information. These three are important factors to consider in consumer health.
A health consumer is someone who examines health information in products and services. The
consumer is the one who purchases and utilizes the goods and services.

Health products include medicines, medical equipment and related services. Filipinos spend a lot of
money each year on health products ranging from over-the-counter (OTC) drugs to cosmetics. Health products
help relieve symptoms, aid in curing illnesses and provide cosmetic effects. Sadly, many of these are not
needed, do not provide the advertised effect, and may have the potential to harm our health.
