Learning Objectives

1. To introduce the student to transportation engineering and various modes of classification


of transportation system.
2. To acquaint the student to the selection and suitability of different materials under varying
conditions.
3. To develop the capability of using composite and advanced materials for achieving optimum
economy by combining intrinsic qualities of available materials.

Course Learning Outcomes

At the completion of the course, the students will be able to:

1. Explain the different parameters of interest in airport design and their effect on the
performance, computing runway length.
2. Explain the airport configuration and geometric design.
3. They will know wind analysis, and runway orientation analysis.
4. Explain water transport system in terms of ports and harbors, their structures, natural
phenomenon involved, their protection and Maintenance strategies.
5. They will be fully equip with the knowledge about railway engineering in terms of
elements of track, rail gauge, rail fastening, creep, rail bed soil, construction and
maintenance
