Key On Engine Off - Voltage Checks at VSS Connector

(Check with VSS Sensor Connector disconnected, and Ignition Key On, Engine Off)
Test Points Specification Comments
ECM pull up voltage when sensor disconnected, if no
B to GND 2V to 3 V
voltage present check for open or shorts.
A to GND 2V to 3 V

VSS Sensor Continuity Checks

(Check with VSS Sensor disconnected, measure Resistance through the Sensor)
Test Points Specification Comments
B to GND > 100 ohms If less than 100 ohms, check for short to ground.
A to GND > 100 ohms If less than 100 ohms, check for short to ground.
B to A 600 ohms to 800 ohms Manual transmission.
B to A 1200 ohms to 1450 ohms Automatic transmission (mechanical) AT/MT.
B to A See WTECH manual Automatic transmission (electronic) MD.

Harness Resistance Checks

(Check with VSS Sensor disconnected, Battery disconnected and breakout box installed)
Test Points Specification Comments
40 to B < 5 ohms If greater than 5 ohms, check for open circuit.
39 to A < 5 ohms If greater than 5 ohms, check for open circuit.
40 to GND > 100 ohms If less than 100 ohms, check for short to ground.
39 to GND > 100 ohms If less than 100 ohms, check for short to ground.
