X – Functional test (Hardware)

1. General

This instruction describes the functional test for the electronic of a blind motor. It’s a version, where
drive commands in form of 230V AC signals are applied for turning the motor up and down. The
electronics does not have a separate permanent power supply connection.

2. Warning

All signals and voltages are not electrically isolated from the 230V input signal. Therefore
the test device needs an isolating transformer. According to this, the test device also
needs a touch protection.

During operation, capacitors C20 and C21 are charged

with approx. 325V. If the power supply is running, the
capacitors discharge to approx. 10 V within approx. 2
seconds.
If the power supply does not run due to a technical
defect / assembly error, the capacitors discharge very
slowly (about 30 seconds to approx. 10V)! There is
therefore a risk of electric shock when touching the
board. The capacitors C20 and C21 are therefore to be
discharged with the test adapter, provided that they still
have too high a voltage after switching off.

3. Microcontroller programming

Programming of microcontroller IC1 with the test program is achieved by using the SWD
port (Signal SWDIO and SWCLK). This can be done at the electrical contact X-PROG1

4. Contacting internal supply voltage (resistor Load and measurement during test)

When measuring the supply voltages, some resistors must be switched on as a load during testing.
You can contact them at the following points:

Pin Signal Note

3V3 +3,3 V Load and Measurement 3,3 V
12V +12 V Load and Measurement 12 V
GND GND Ground for load 12 V und 3,3 V

There are no separate test points to connect lines for load and measurement. So the lines
for load and measurement have to split as near as possible to the PCB!

7. Simulation of motor speed

In the area of the Hall sensors HAL1 and HAL2, a special permanent magnet rotates which
simulates the speed of the tubular motor. The permanent magnet on the test adapter is driven by a
motor. The permanent magnet is provided by Geiger. The motor has to be procured from the
producer of test hardware. The motor must have the following characteristics:
 The direction of rotation must be invertible.
 The speed must be adjustable (range 0 ... 4000 rpm) and constant.

The magnet must be placed over the top side of the board:

X: centered between the two hall sensors HAL1 and HAL2

Y: above the middle of the component of the two hall sensors HAL1 and HAL2
Z: The distance a between top of the board and middle of the magnet diameter 9,6 mm

8. Simulation of limit switch

In the area of the Hall sensor HAL3, a special permanent

magnet has to simulate a switch. To switch on and off, the
distance between magnet and hall sensor must be changed
linearly. The permanent magnet is provided by Geiger. The
mechanic components have to be procured from the
producer of test hardware. The state of the switch can be
read out by the functional test software.

The position X and Y of the magnet has to be centered to the hall sensor. The distance between
PCB surface and magnet has to be moved linearly between 11.1 mm and 6,6 mm:

The state of the limit switch has to change in the range below:

State Distance
on 8,4 mm ± 0,3 mm
off 9,8 mm ± 0,3 mm

For diagnostic the real switching distances for each PCB have to be saved in the test system!

9. Contacting test device on the UART

The test equipment communicates via UART (level 3,3V) to PCB. Electrical contact is X–PROG1.

The connection has to be electrically isolated, so there is a safe separation between

PCB and Computer/Laptop.

10. Reset input

The reset signal for the microcontroller IC1 can be contacted on X-PROG1.

11. Query of hardware version

There is a possibility to identify various hardware versions. With the test adapter a resistor value
can be measured on X–PROG1 between pin 2 and 4 to get information about the hardware
version. Currently, there is only one version:

12. Sequence of functional test (version with 2 relays)

There partly bust be a resistor load on voltages 3.3 V and 12 V in tests a and b. The following
resistors must be used for this:
for 3,3 V: 60 Ω (corresponds to approx. 55 mA additional load)  2 x resistor 120 Ω in parallel
for 12 V: 560 Ω (corresponds to approx. 20 mA additional load)

a) Apply 195V AC input voltage between N and LINE_CW (230V - 15%). Measure the power
supply voltages with and without load.
Resistor load on Permitted range for Permitted range for
voltages voltage 12V to GND voltage 3,3V to GND
no 11,4 V ±10% (10,3 … 12,5 V) 3,3 V ±5% (3,14 … 3,47 V)
yes 11,4 V ±10% (10,3 … 12,5 V) 3,3 V ±5% (3,14 … 3,47 V)

Remarks:
 The 12V from the switching power supply had in the prototypes 4.012.03 each about 11.4V. Therefore, this value is used as
the setpoint. The selected tolerance of 10% is not a problem for relays and hall sensors.
 The data sheet of the voltage regulator indicates the 3.3V with the range 3.17 ... 3.44. Therefore, the tolerance of 5% was
used.

b) Increase input voltage up to 265V AC (230V + 15%). Measure the power supply voltages with
and without load.
Resistor load on Zulässiger Bereich bei Messung Zulässiger Bereich bei Messung
voltages Spannung 12V gegen GND Spannung 3,3V gegen GND

yes 11,4 V ±10% (10,3 … 12,5 V) 3,3 V ±5% (3,14 … 3,47 V)

c) Other tests in accordance with software test instructions 8.012.xx.

d) Switch off the input voltage.
