DESIGN PROBLEM:

Imagine a cubical space of 3 metres x 3 metres by 3 metres. Now separately imagine any built space
you have visited and liked so much (be it restaurant table, a garden you like, a retail store inside a mall, a
coffee bar, etc.). Write a paragraph on your experience of the space and theme, the material, colour,
texture, the arrangements of windows to receive external light and air, the organization of items
displayed and pathways to facilitate movement, etc., used to create such a unique experience different
from any other space you have visited. Based on the the experience you have articulated in the
paragraph, graphically present the concept of your imaginary space with specific imaginary functions.

The cubical space of 3m x 3m x 3m can be enveloped by using material of your choice. And the envelop
doesn’t necessarily need to be cube rather manipulation in the cube through addition and subtraction of
forms to bring in the light and shade.

The students must prepare both the exterior envelop and interior space in appropriate scale. (1:50 and 1
:20).

Students are free to present the design in any way they choose but must be comprehensible to the jury
and the design practitioners.

TIME : 1100 – 1400

The students will be graded for the work completed in the class room.
