SPELLING RULES-ING

RULE #1:
 Verbs that end in “e”
 Delete the “e” and add “ing”-
 Examples:

INFINITIVE ING FORM


make Making
write Writing
dance Dancing
live Living
RULE #2:
 Verbs that end in “ie”
 Delete the “ie” and add “ying”
 Example:

lie Lying
die dying
Tie Tying

RULE #3:
 One syllable verbs that end in one vowel
and one consonant.
 Double the consonant and add “ing”.
 Examples:

RULE #4:
 If the verb ends in two consonants, don’t
double the consonants.

double the consonant.
