Project Business Relations between Colombia and the European Union

This project has a strong research and analysis component.
Working as a group the students will act as business consultants
and will provide advice to a potential investor that wants to bring a
European company to the Colombian market. The students will
identify one company that is originally from one country of the
European Union (EU) and which is not yet present in the Colombian
market. They will provide a proper characterization of the country
and the company, presenting data that is relevant for taking

Then they will have to produce a market analysis and business plan
to bring the selected company into the Colombian market. In their
analysis they should give a clear and thorough explanation of why
the company has potential to succeed in the Colombian market,
and why it is an interesting, promising and useful business for our
country.

2. Propose and thoroughly explain one business opportunity
between Colombia and the selected EU country.

INSTRUCTIONS TO DEVELOP THE PROJECT
This project should be done in groups of three to five students. This is absolutely mandatory.
Keep in mind that this is a business report, so the document should have a style appropriate for
an executive business audience.

The main body of each of the deliveries should not exceed the maximum page limit of 6. This is
part of the grading criteria. Your document should have the following sections:
-Cover page (1 page)
-Introduction (1 page)
-Body with the main content (maximum 6 pages)
-Conclusion (1 page)
-List of references (as many pages as needed following APA guidelines 7th edition)

The document should be presented in Arial, Calibri, Garamond or Times New Roman using font
size 12.

The corrections requested for the first and second delivery should be incorporated in the last
delivery (number 3).

DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS 1 – Week 3

Working as a group you have to pretend that you are business consultants and that you will
provide advice to a potential investor that wants to bring a European company to the
Colombian market. First you have to identify one company of any economic sector and any size
that is originally from one country of the European Union (EU) and which is not yet present in
the Colombian market. After selecting the company, you have to provide a proper
characterization of the country and the company, presenting data that is relevant for taking
decisions as an international business consultant.

It is advisable to consult official information sources such as the OECD, Ministries of commerce
and international trade, Proexport, Doing Business, and the EU website, among others.

In your work you have to explain and justify why you selected that company indicating, among
others, why you consider it is a relevant and promising business to bring to the Colombian
market.

DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS 2 – Week 5

Provide a detailed market analysis and well-structured business plan to bring the selected
company into the Colombian market, considering the most relevant aspects that need to be
taken into consideration by the potential investor for entering the Colombian market with this
company. Your description and analysis should give a clear and thorough explanation of why the

company has potential to succeed in the Colombian market, and why it is an interesting,
promising and useful business for our country. The business plan and market analysis should be
real, feasible and based on current figures and analysis.

It is advisable to consult the current trade agreement between Colombian and the EU, and
explain how this agreement benefits the entering of your selected company (if it does).

Note: The corrections to the first delivery should be incorporated in the last delivery (week 7)
and not with this one.

DELIVERY INSTRUCTIONS 3 – Week 7

For this last delivery you have to present two things:

1. A final business style report that includes the content of the first and second deliveries, with
all the necessary corrections and improvements. This document should include a one-page
executive summary of the entire work. This summary should be the second page of your
document, right after the cover page.

2. Design a one-page infographic that is creative, concrete and well informing to explain your
business opportunity.
