Introduction:

Every seconds someone in the world is infected by HIV or AIDS. When these are not
treated properly, it can even lead to death. Therefore HIV and AIDS are a big
problem. Most people are not aware of what HIV and AIDS really are. Many people
and organizations already give an educational programs about HIV and AIDS
awareness in order to increase the amount of people who have a proper knowledge
about this and decrease the amount of people infected. Despite all of it, HIV and
AIDS are still two of the most common sexually transmitted diseases.
HIV or Human Immunodeficiency Virus and AIDS or Acquired Immunodeficiency
Syndrome are a relevant issue in the Philippines. In 2015 Philippines has one of the
lowest rates of infection, yet one of the fastest growing number of cases worldwide.
We should focus on the age group of 15-24 years old, age range that are engaging
in an unprotected sexual intercourse. Furthermore, the infection between this age
group is more prevalent with homosexual relationships.
Approximately two-thirds of young women and men lack comprehensive knowledge
on HIV transmission. Thelack of information for the youth in the Philippines causes
ignorance about sex and its risks like pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.
This is a big problem of our country and we are here to help solve this by increasing
the awareness of the consequences of unsafe sex of youth in the Philippines,
especially foucsing on Hiv and AIDS.
The Philippines is one of the countries where HIV and AIDS still are a big problem,
especially in the parts of the country with a low level of prosperity. In these parts, for
example, in Metro Manila, most children are poorly educated and often live on the
streets. Metro Manila is the area that we will be focussing on in our project. In this
area children often do not get a proper education at school and consequently no
sexual education and information about HIV/AIDS or other sexually transmitted
diseases. Neither do they get sexual information from their parents.
