PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT BULLETIN # 16

PRODUCT: All 680 injector built prior to 7-21-2008

REFERENCE: Motor Side bearing retainer

On July 21 2008 a change was made to how the main drive bearing is held on the drive
sprocket of the 680 injector. The original spiral retaining ring was changed to an
external snap ring.

It was discovered that in certain conditions the main drive bearing inner race could
rotate. Rotation between the bearings inner race and the drive sprocket can cause the
spiral ring to spin/peel out of its groove. This would allow the bearing to move toward
the motor and brake causing damage to the drive head

It is Hydra Rig’s recommendation that during your next scheduled “External Drive
Inspection” that you replace the spiral retaining rings. The replacement snap ring (part
number BSR00103) is shown in the “Drive System installation” section of your manual
on drawing number CE310412 and is depicted as number 5 in the illustration and the
bill of materials on the previous page of the manual.

Every 680 injector manual has a section titled “Drive Maintenance.” In this
section you will find a periodic maintenance schedule #21. On that schedule is
the “External Drive Inspection”. There are clear instructions on how and when
to perform this inspection.

Hydra Rig will supply the BSR00103 snap rings to you free of charge upon completion
and return the following information.
