 Upcoming Events at BHL
THE FARMER’S DAUGHTER - It is that time of year again
for our annual trip to the Farmer’s Daughter. This meal is
free for all who attend our church and is provided by the
Men’s Group. The date for the meal is Saturday, February
12th, 2011 (with the 19th being our “snow date”). As always,
we will need a count of those attending. Please sign the list in
the narthex if you and your family will be attending this year.
WE KNOW WE ALL HAVE THEM … FRIENDS! On
Sunday, February 20th we will be having a Friendship
Sunday beginning with breakfast at 9 AM and worship at
11 AM. We invite you to invite someone from your family,
from our community, from your place of employment; to
come join us for this time of fellowship together. There will
be more information in the coming weeks.
CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!!! As we continue our
journey through winter 2011, we ask you to begin looking
toward the summer. This summer we will be continuing our
VBS journey through the “Holy Land Adventures.” This year
we will be in Nazareth. If you would like to help out, just let
Pastor Bruce know. We also are happy to announce that we
will be having an adult section taught by Rev. Gatewood. Our
current plan is to have VBS the last week of June!!!
Brothers and sisters in Christ:
Through the Sacrament of Baptism we are initiated into
Christ’s holy church. We are incorporated into God’s
mighty acts of salvation and given new birth through water
and the Spirit. All this is God’s gift, offered to us without
price.
I present to you this morning Sarah Pressly who comes to
this congregation from Christ UMC, Hickory and Carol
Evans who comes to this congregation from Mars Hill
UMC.
I ask you both:
On behalf of the whole church, Do you renounce the
spiritual forces of wickedness, reject the evil powers of this
world, and repent of your sin?
I do.
Do you accept the freedom and power God gives you to
resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they
present themselves?
I do.
Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Savior, put your whole
trust in his grace, and promise to serve him as your Lord, in
union with the church which Christ has opened to people of
all ages, nations, and races?
I do.
