courses-an-oasis-stir-crazy-americans-eager-get-out-tee-up/

Washington Post talking about how Americans are taking to golf to get outdoors and do leisure activities
amid the lockdowns. Could cause a spike in demand and opportunity for growth as golf course owners
have noticed a lot of new young faces around the course – a signal that COVID may have prompted the
younger generations to take up the game. If friends & family members take up the game because they
have nothing better to do, it could lead to many other people being introduced to golf.

Article on how the game may be modified on-course to meet the requirements of the pandemic. Seems
the benefits of playing rounds outdoors is a significant point for consumers and could grow the base of
golfers in the US and Canada. If golfers start golfing due to the pandemic and then find themselves
without the time / funds to play outdoors on-course do they then look to simulators? Could be good for

Golf Advisor does weekly report videos on the golf industry. On a positive note, rounds played are up
during the weekdays and “dead” times due to the flexible work schedules that people are experiencing
at home. However, golf destinations, resorts and travel have taken a hit. This works ok for WP, as
weekday rounds increasing can signal growth in the consumer base of golfers in North America. The
more golfers that play during the pandemic, the more that will be around for simulated golf when they
run out of time (& money?) for on-course rounds.
