The sacrament of reconciliation

 Baptism is the first sacrament of forgiveness

 Gave the apostles authority to forgive sins
 “Receive the holy spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven: if you retain the sins of
any, they are retained.” (Jn 20:22-23)
 Just like Jesus, the church is faced with a world that has lost an awareness of sins.

Justification

 Justification is not only the remission of sins, but sanctification and renovation of the
interior man through the voluntary reception of grace and gifts, whereby a man become
just, instead of just, and a friend, instead of an enemy, that he may be an in the hope of life
everlasting.
 Justification from sin and god’s indwelling in the soul are result of grace.
