Service Ministry: A Time Well-spent for Humanity

They say that the family is the basic unit of the society, and it is the first school of all
children. Let me share to you this simple article about a man who devoted his time in
service for humanity. This person grew in a simple family with simple dreams. Most of
his elementary days are spent in school and at home — playing, studying, and other
stuffs that a young boy does. When he reached high school, he worked part-time to
earn a little for him to support his needs until he finished.

To continue his dream of having a College Degree he entered as a Student Assistant in

the school where he studied. He needs to be in school at 7 in the morning, and every
hour he needs to go up a four-storey building to check if teachers are present in each
classroom. After his day routine, he goes to class from 5 o’clock in the afternoon until 8
o’clock in the evening. Aside from his daily routine in his work and studies he got
engaged in a youth civic organization until he got into the Youth Ministry. From this
ministry, he found new sets of friends who just like him are happy in serving the youth.
They go from one place to another to teach simple bible lessons in relation to daily lives
of children and youth and of course they prepare games to make the children enjoy.
Likewise, they go uphill to reach out to the Aetas who lived in the mountain and share
some time and some goods as a part of their usual activity. It is with this ministry where
he got the chance to be one of the millions of participants in 1995 World Youth Day
which was held in our country. Everything went well, and he was able to finish and
earned his degree in Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English.

When he was already working he thought that everything will change, and he will just
focused on his work — teaching. Service and ministry is truly in his heart. He was
invited to be a guest in a local youths radio program wherein the content of the
discussion are bible contents in relation to the youth, and other values oriented issues.
After that guesting, he got interested and became a regular contributor / researcher /
broadcaster. Every Sundays he needs to travel for almost two hours to reach the radio
station, but it seems like he never gets tired travelling and sharing for experiences and
ideas for the youth of his province without being paid and spending for his travelling
expenses. While he was actively part of the YOUTH ON AIR radio program another
ministry caught his attention the Basic Ecclesial Community — a bible-based
community engagement, discussing the values, lessons from the bible and meaning of
life. He became a Youth Formator of the Basic Ecclesial Community again serving
youth and leading youth to be good Christians and good citizens. He did the two
ministry for youth with joy and happiness and never get tired.

In 2005, he got married and became a family man. He moved from Pampanga and
settled in Batangas where he and his wife started a family. He thought again that his
ministry finally ended because he is new in the place. God called him again and
together with his wife they were ask to join a barangay church support group. Again his
belief and his optimism was tested. The group they belong had a project of constructing
a new and bigger chapel to accommodate church goers in their community. They
started with nothing, with the cooperation and unity of the members and dedication to
make their project a reality, they thought of different ways on how to start and make it
possible. With God’s guidance they were successful and was able to put up and
construct a bigger and much comfortable chapel for their community church goer. Until
now, he shares, either small amount of money for students who need financial
assistance; part of his time for those who needs to confide with him and asking for his
advice; volunteering during the eruption of Taal Vulcano as the Coordinator for the Food
Needs of evacuees in their school, etc because he enjoys sharing and caring.

Really service and ministry comes together, we don’t need to talk about religion, we
need to believe in ourselves that we can make change through our simple acts of
kindness. We may not have all the 3 T’s in life — Time, Treasure, Talent — but by just
sharing one of these 3 T’s we can make a difference. Hope you were able to appreciate
the simple service-ministry of the person in this article. The person in this article is none
other than ME — CRIS T. ZITA, the writer of the article. Again with GOD nothing is
IMPOSSIBLE always think of I aM Possible.

MY ANSWER:

From the story above, you can feel what does writer want to convey to us, he want to
encourage the reader that every single person has purpose in life, the arrangement of
the ideas has clearly stated from general to specific also the story started to motivation
which is the best fundamental to catch the reader’s attention and it arouse the readers
to continue his reading for them to understand. I expect that the writer is my professor
for the reason I saw the devotion to help other people for not expecting giving an
amount, more so the overall structures are sequential.

Thanks Sir for a marvelous story.
