Perks of being a STEM Student

If you think STEM is an easy strand, think again. Many have feared STEM because of how it drove students at
their wit’s end. The subjects left them grasping at straws just to meet with the needed requirements and complete
their school works. On the brighter side, every hardship has a reward at the end. No carbon would form into a
diamond without going through immense pressure. Here is a short list of the perks of being a STEM student:

1. Your mathematical abilities will greatly improve!

Calculus is not for the faint-hearted. You need to prepare yourself for a bloodbath when
solving for different equations and problems. Also keep in mind that Calculus is not the only
mathematics subject that you need to overcome when enrolling for STEM. General Mathematics
and Statistics & Probability will also be there to make your senior high school experience even more
miserable. But there’s no need to worry. Everything will be worth it. After going through these
hellish subjects, you’ll finally be able to compute for the probability of being liked back by your
crush!
2. Unlock your hidden talent in Chemistry!
If you think Chemistry is simply about distinguishing between solid, liquid, and gas, well,
you’re in deep trouble. You need to have a lot of patience when memorizing the electron
configurations of every element in the periodic table. Numbers will still continue to haunt you
because Chemistry has a lot of equation in stored for you. This subject may probably make you go
ballistic, but at least you’ll be able to realize the fact that you and your crush have zero chemistry.
3. Master gravity-defying Physics equation!
In Physics, you’ll be served with a buffet of formulas that would burst your neurons. Can
you solve for how fast Physics is driving you insane? Fear not! You’ll learn about the different laws
of motion, electricity and magnetism, thermodynamics, and many more topics that would suck the
life out of you. You’ll also discover that gravity is not the reason why you fell for your crush. Do not
blame Newton for your heartbreaks.
4. Be an expert in Biology!
Do not belittle Biology. You may know that mitochondria are the powerhouse of the cell
but that’s not the only thing you need to know to be a master in Biology. You must familiarize
yourself with the countless scientific names that exist. Genetics may sound easy but it can be
confusing sometimes. Then there’s taxonomy where you’ll classify organisms based on their
kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. It’s quite troublesome to memorize all of
these but at least you’ll now be able to classify what animal your ex is.

Success cannot be achieved easily. We all need to go through thousands of struggles before we reach our
goals. Stressing over things will only make matters worse. There’s no doubt that STEM is an extremely difficult
strand. We may think that it is too much for us to handle. However, if we try to enjoy ourselves while learning,
everything will become a lot easier. No path is difficult for someone who enjoys the journey.
