Chapter - 02

● Weight:

the force exerted on the mass of a body by a gravitational field.

● Normal Reaction Force:

the force that surfaces exert to prevent solid objects from passing
through each other.

● Mass:

the quantity of matter which a body contains, as measured by its

acceleration under a given force or by the force exerted on it by a
gravitational field.

● Magnetic Force:

attraction or repulsion that arises between electrically charged

particles because of their motion
● Rotate:

move or cause to move in a circle round an axis or centre.

● Electrostatic Force:

an attractive and repulsive force between particles are caused due to

their electric charges

● Generator:

an apparatus for producing gas, steam, or another substance.

● Air Resistance/Drag:

the longitudinal retarding force exerted by air or other fluid

surrounding a moving object.

● Upthrust:

the upward force that a liquid or gas exerts on a body floating in it.

● Nuclear Forces:

a strong attractive force between nucleons in the atomic nucleus that

holds the nucleus together.

● Resultant Force:
is the single force and associated torque obtained by combining a
system of forces and torques acting on a rigid body.

● Sum:

the aggregate of two or more numbers, magnitudes, quantities, or

particulars as determined by or as if by the mathematical process of
addition.

● Unbalanced Force:

Forces that cause a change in the motion of an object are unbalanced

forces.

● Thrust:

the force which makes an object move.

● Kinetic Energy:

energy which a body possesses by virtue of being in motion.

● Weightless:

(of a body, especially in an orbiting spacecraft) not apparently acted

on by gravity.

● Compressed:

flattened by pressure; squeezed or pressed together.
