Lipid bi-layer of the Plasma Membrane

The outer part of the lipid bi-layer of the plasma membrane is hydrophilic and interior part is hydrophobic.
Most of the substances that move across the plasma membranes by simple diffusion are Sodium ions
(Na+).
Substance transported in the plasma membrane by active transport are Na+, K+, H+ and glucose.

Lipids are the most important organic compounds. Ex. Acetone and Chloroform.
Carbohydrates are the most abundant organic compounds.
Nucleic acids are large and most complex organic molecules.

Ribosomes are single membrane organelles discovered by Christian Rene.

Spermatid produced 2 daughter spermatocytes.

Meiosis VS. Mitosis

Original cell is diploid Original cell is monoploid

Four daughter cell produces are monoploid
Occurs in germ cell Occurs in somatic cell

For sexual reproduction For growth and repair
Produces gametes Genetically identical
