his variant of the high
performance, networked
4635 supports the widest
print line of any cut sheet
production printer.
Large Format Printing Capability
The 4635-LFP can print on sheets
that are 12.5” x 18.5”, in either
simplex or duplex mode, using
the stocks commonly support-
ed in other cut sizes. With ap-
propriate stocks, the LFP can
even feed, image and stack pa-
per that is 14” x 18.5”.
Xerox Special Information Sys-
tems (XSIS), which adapted the
DocuPrint 4635 to support
oversize paper, makes the LFP
model available as a packaged
solution through local Xerox
sales representatives world-
wide. The system is supported
at customer sites by local Xe-
rox field Service Technicians. The 4635-LFP can handle all
standard cut-sheet sizes and larger.
Benefits of Oversize Paper
While standard cut sizes are
designed to meet the needs of
most applications, there are times
when only a larger size sheet will
do. For instance, special dimen-
sions may be required for com-
pliance with de facto industry
standards. In these cases, the
paper simply must be bigger than
11” x 17” or A3.
In other cases, an extra large
sheet is not strictly required but
makes good economic sense. By
enabling more cost-efficient
imposition, it’s possible to im-
prove throughput, reduce main-
tenance charges, decrease paper
wastage, or all three. An extra
large sheet also permits more
flexibility, such as printing a
newsletter using an image up to
18.25” and then trimming the
(signature ) sheets for a full
bleed effect.
Applications for Oversize Paper
One natural application is the
production of loan payment
(“coupon”) books, since over-
size paper permits more loan
coupons to be printed on each
sheet for a lower cost-per-
coupon.
In the production publishing
realm, large format sheets are
the norm for sheet music and
music booklets. The large size
also makes it feasible to use one
printer to produce complete
product manuals and equip-
ment guides, including the
covers --which must be more
than 17” wide to provide any
spine at all on a perfect-bound
8.5 ”x 11” book.
For smaller format books, like
6” x 9”, the 4635-LFP can print
pages 4-up. Not only does this
reduce printer maintenance
charges, it may have a signifi-
cant operational advantage over
2-up press sheets depending on
the publisher’s production
process and finishing equip-
ment. With the 4635’s multiple
High-Capacity Feeder/
Stackers, the publisher can
“run non-stop” to maximize
throughput.
No Compromises
XSIS has extended the capa-
bilities of the 4635 Network
Printing System, while retain-
ing all of its widely valued
features. Hence, the LFP model
supports true Network
PostScript 600 dpi as
input and it outputs at
the same resolution for
crisp text and smooth,
photographic quality
images.
The LFP can also be
configured for main-
frame (LPS) environ-
ments, and can support
12-up check printing if
ordered with the MICR
option.
In all cases, the 4635-LFP
shares the exceptional abilities
of the entire Xerox DocuPrint
4635 family of production
printing systems with up to six
programmable input trays for
multiple paper sizes, weights,
and applications. The 4635
family, including the LFP, sets
the standard for system perfor-
mance and reliability, whether
printing on regular size stocks
or oversize paper.
