Handrail Assembly Rules

8 Handrail Assembly Rules

The handrail assembly template exists as HANDRA item below APPLDATA hierarchy. Two
basic types are recognised by the application, regular (non-panelised) and panelised.

8.1 Regular Handrail

If the assembly contains post (HRPOST) elements and any number of RAILs, it is treated by
the application as a regular "non-panelised" handrail. Optionally it can contain kick plates
(KICKPL) or in-fill panels (HRPANE).

8.2 Panelised Handrail

If the assembly contains panels (HRPANE) and does not contain any post or rail then it is
recognised as "panelised". Optionally it can contain kick plates.

8.3 Basic Principles

The assembly (HANDRA) is not copied to design instance as a whole, each handrail
member (HRPOST, RAIL, KICKPL, HRTERM, HRPANE) is created as a copy of the item
from the assembly. The reference from the design instance of handrail to the assembly
template is established via attribute ASSTMP. Each handrail member has the same
reference to the item it has been copied from.
All members can have XOFFset value set. If the value is positive it is assumed that the
offset will be made away from the imaginary shape formed by handrail boundary/path (e.g.
edge mounted post).
