Q1
The town put on a wide river mouth up which sea comes,
its old yellow plastered buildings putting one’s arms round the get boat up onto
land.
And on the sand at edge of sea the white and blue small boats that came from
Nayarit were outlined up, small boats kept safe, good for living-stages by a hard
shell-like against-water hard wall coating whose making was a secret of the
fishing persons in general.
They were high and smooth small boats with curving forward end of ship and
stern and a braced part mid ships where a tall upright support could be stepped
to keep a small lateen sail.
The sand at edge of sea was yellow sand, but at the water's edge much broken
material, stones of hard outer covering and algae 1 took its place.
Fiddler water animals turned into liquid balls with air inside and made bursting
sounds in their holes in the sand, and in the shallows little lobsters popped in
and out of their very small homes in the much broken material, stones and sand.
The sea lowest part was good quality with going very slowly and swimming and
growing things.
The brown algae 1 waved in the kind, quiet, not rough currents and the green
eel grass swayed and little sea horses gripped to its stems.
Spotted botete, the poison fish, put on the lowest part in the eel-grass beds, and
the bright-coloured swimming water animals ran with quick light steps over
them.

1) "Luck, you see, brings bitter friends."

In this part of the novel Kino is explaining to Juana that ever since the
pearl came into their lives it has brought nothing but bad luck and "bitter
friends". These friends were the people who were willing to fight for
the wealth of that huge pearl, which they decided was not right. This
was a key part in the novel because it led to their decision of throwing
this pearl into the sea to never be found again. Writer wants to say that
When you got something precious then you got different enemies. That
enemies can be your friends, your neighbors, or your fellows. When you
achieve something then people were feel jealousy and they want to de
grade you. I agree with writer at this point because I experienced it.
When I got admission at UMT in software Engineering, then many of
my friends and family members said to me that you are going to waste
many you didn’t achieve this goal to get degree in software engineering
from UMT. They wanted to de-grade me and they wanted that I leave
the university and don’t study further. So I have experience of bitter
friends. So I agree with the writer at this point that Luck you see, brings
bitter friends.
2) "Every search begins with beginner's luck. And every search ends
with the victor's being severely tested."
In this statement of the novel writer wants to explain that When
someone start a journey to achieve his goal initially he is a lucky that
he has a goal in life and he is trying to achieving that goal then he may
face different challenges and difficulties during his journey but at the
end he will definitely achieve his goal. So writer gave the example of
Santiago that how he starts his journey then his luck helped him in the
shape of Melchizedek, The Crystal merchant and The Alchemist that
how they helped the Santiago to achieve his treasure. So I agree with
the writer So I have an experience. As I am a student and I am
studying software engineering. Initially when I start this degree I faced
so many difficulties. The difficulties of Fee of the university and the
difficulty of living expensive and the difficulty of studying how the
courses are difficult of this degree. But now my degree is going to end
and I will be achieving my goal very soon INSHAHALLAH. So I
agree with this point of writer that Every search begins with
beginner’s luck and every search ends with the victor’s being severely
tested.
