CRITICAL

ACTION
PROJECT
How could I best support students and families
facing new challenges in a remote learning
environment?
ISSUE IDENTIFIED &
RESEARCHED
To begin my journey, I decided to focus
on three key areas; anxiety & mental
illness, food security and access to
technology. How could I begin to
support these areas if learning returned
to a remote platform and could I create
something of use to other educators Research paper linked here

KEEP IT SIMPLE: ACTION

PLAN (NOW WHAT?!)
I decided to narrow down on one area to
build my action plan on; mental health.
To this end, I required more training and
signed myself up for professional
development through UBC.

MENTAL HEALTH LITERACY

IN THE CLASSROOM
While the course from UBC was
extremely informative, the content
needed to be in a form that was easily
translated to the classroom.

MOVING FORWARD
This unit could easily be taught cross-
curricular in PHE, Science, Social
Studies and Foods but mental health
and mindfulness need to be taught
throughout elementary school as well to
assist students with building positive
mental health activities

RESOURCES MOVING
FORWARD
Over this semester I have compiled
numerous resources and they can be
found on my weebly site.
I'll keep updating the MHL unit plan and
adding individual lesson plans.
